adjusting the airflow mixture on 109e 2.3 {us}
i would just like to know the effect if adjusting the airflow mixture to lean will make the idel smooth? i've read it too some of the forum that adjusting it to lean make the idel smooth. will this also make the car more economical? on a laymans understanding if the mixture is rich it consume more gas {more power} and if it too lean less gas {less power} is my understanding right??????
another question if i make it too much lean does this make it economical???? {note: my question is on the basis that i'm driving the car on a standard type of driving using the economy guage} I'm talking about the one behind of the air cleaner using a allen tool. it' in betwen the fuel distributor and a round plate that goes up and down every time you step on the trotel. it' inside of a small post if anyone know the answer pls do or any comment i would highly appriciate it thanks |

That adjustment point is very touchy to adjustments and it usually causes more harm than good to adjust it without a CO meter and experience. Too much causes problems just as likely as too little. You will gain something by messing with it, but it wont be gas milage, it will likely be trouble.
If you do decide to adjust it, I may recommend buying a electronic multimeter that does duty cycle so you can measure the changes and read all the many good posts on the forum on how to adjust the air meter

Absolutely no difference in mixture is achieved in mixture adjustment until one has overwhelmed the system. The mixture is self correcting. The only thing one can do is center the ability of the system to correct rich and lean. If one goes beyond the systems ability to correct it will run like a POS and get terrible mileage. The system is easy to adjust if you know what you are doing but once in control, what you get is what you got, idle wise. If it is poor then general mixture isn't the answer.

thanks gays for the info. anyway i tied adjusting it turing it 3/4 of a turn to the left the idel went very smooth and it gave me a little more milage in the consumption. i also notice that the acceleration speed has gone more nicer than before,{i think it did gave more power in it}. i'm still observing the condition of the engine right now, and planning to adjust it more for an experiment. {whether it would be nicer and great or not} any i highly appriciate the reply you gays gave. by the way i'm from the phillipines. the reason for this question and experiment is that our street are not that wide as yours and the price of gas here is too expensive {1 liter is 44.07 pesos. on the conversion rate of 41 pesos to 1 us dollar}. but then you have too pay for the comfort in life. |
