adjusting the airflow mixture on 109e 2.3 {us}

i would just like to know the effect if adjusting the airflow mixture to lean will make the idel smooth? i've read it too some of the forum that adjusting it to lean make the idel smooth. will this also make the car more economical? on a laymans understanding if the mixture is rich it consume more gas {more power} and if it too lean less gas {less power} is my understanding right??????

another question if i make it too much lean does this make it economical???? {note: my question is on the basis that i'm driving the car on a standard type of driving using the economy guage}

I'm talking about the one behind of the air cleaner using a allen tool. it' in betwen the fuel distributor and a round plate that goes up and down every time you step on the trotel. it' inside of a small post

if anyone know the answer pls do or any comment i would highly appriciate it

thanks
