Question Limited Slip Dif, 300E

Group,
I checked the archives and didn't find anything. My question is simple, is there a limited siip differential that is available that will fit a 1993 300E 3.2? I know sometimes there is a L/S dif from one model that will fit another. I figured if I could find one cheap I would put one in so the car would move in the snow. Snow tires are in the plans but I like to have two tires spinning out back in the messy stuff, not one.

TIA,
Matthew

For even what a used final drive will run you, you could buy set after set of premium snow tires.

My C230 has no L/S, No traction control whatsoever, and is great in the white stuff thanks to Pilot Alpins.

Is the W124 battery in the trunk? That helps on the W202's.

Nothing like good tires and a sack of sand in the trunk! Plus, most of the skidding happens when you brake, and when you brake, it doesn't matter if it is 2WD, 3WD, 4WD, L/S diff, Locking diff, or anything else - the quality of the rubber is all that matters, along with your driving skills.

My $0.02.

All MB from 1996 have traction systems!! On the C230 you have AT least ETS simular to the 4-ETS on the ML & 1998 & later 4-matic cars but only a 2 wheel system.

Nope.

In the US, all post 1996 cars have ETS, ASR, ESP etc.

I'm in the "rest of the world." My C230 has NO tractional control device whatsoever...

...wish our C36 had been similarly equipped.

Not in Canada. The 1998 C230 Classic had no ETS or ASR. The 1998 C230 Elegance had ASR standard. My C230 Classic has no traction control at all.

For 1999, all lines got ESP standard.

I guess that is what makes US different!
TIS a shame that MBC didn't give you ETS as std equiptment, as electronic limited slip is nice!

Give Rick a call (301-762-4205) at RC Imports in Rockville, MD.

http://www.rc-imports.com/

He found a 3.07 limited-slip diff for my 1988 W124 wagon. It's been bullet-proof.

Tell him Neil in California with the wagon sent you.
