2002 C320 key won't turn, door locks don't work after jump starting. SAM bad? - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

After trying to jump start this 2002 C320, the key no longer turns in the ignition, nor do the door locks work. I had the car towed to a Euro car repair shop, and they said the EIS was bad. I suspected that was not the problem, as other things did not work either. They took the EIS out, and I sent it for repair. The key shop tested it, and said there was no problem with it. I believe that the SAM is bad. The question is, if I get a new or used SAM withe the exact same part number, will it work? I do have a STAR C3 computer and hardware, but I am sure the ignition key needs to be working for coding to be done. If I replace the SAM, will the existing EIS communicate with it? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks, Rich

I guess it was boosted off a running vechile to take out the SAM most likely other electronics have fried as well. In answer to your question all modules must handshake to the different SAMs that means some modules are coded to talk only to the original cars SAM. I'm pretty sure your star can't do the required coding so maybe buy all the required coded modules and swap them all?
