Installing 3rd Brake Light on 85 500SE

Are there any secrets to installing a 3rd brake light on an 85 500SE? I'm sure I can do it myself, but am wondering if there is anything I should be wary of. Someone told me that I can foul up my cruise control if I don't do it right...
