Installing 3rd Brake Light on 85 500SE

Are there any secrets to installing a 3rd brake light on an 85 500SE? I'm sure I can do it myself, but am wondering if there is anything I should be wary of. Someone told me that I can foul up my cruise control if I don't do it right...

Mercedes published a S.Info on on this subject, possibly your local dealer can make you a copy. The rear seat & hat shelf will have to be removed. Have fun!

About the cruise control thing, the guy who told you that must have been drunk...

1) First take off the rear seat by un-clipping the two red holders on each side. 2) Take off the "back" of the seat is hold with 3 screws, one on each side and one in the middle.
3) Move up the whole thing and take it off. Pay attention 'cause if you do it alone, you can easily scratch some inside parts of your car...
4) Remove the two boxes situated in the back by unscrewing them.
5) Move the whole board to you.
6) Install the electric cables and connect them to the right or left rear stop light. You can easily hide the cables behind the caches.
7) Do the whole thing in the reverse order.

The whole thing shouldn't take you more than an hour.
