Just bought a 83 300d turbo that has definite engine problems. 220k. Sounds like a lower engine knock off idle and has no power. I have rebuilt gas engines before but wonder if this is something I should tackle. Is replacement of the cyl. sleeves something that a machine shop has to do. What kind of cost should one expect using oem parts on a complete rebuild hoping that I don't have to replace the crank but have it reground? Thanks for your help.
