Having several (2-'05 CDI, '07 Bluetec, 2-gas sedans, and an '04 M112 powered wagon), I kinda agree. Although I like the rush of power the CDI provides when asked to do so, the wagon has been a wonderful tool for me, even though it is a gasser. All of them have been extremely reliable. One day I may get my wish and have the "best of both worlds"

Until then, I will enjoy my wagon and all the utilitarian abilities that it provides, even if it requires gasoline as fuel.
As far as pulling injectors on the CDI, been there-done that. It really is not that big of a deal. I had what could have been the worst case of "Black Death" ever on a CDI, and successfully repaired it with minimal hassle.

The rest of the W211 platform has been very DIY friendly to me. I have dealt with transmission issues (conductor plate replacement), suspension parts, airbag replacement, body parts replacement, oil cooler seals (Bluetec), water pump and radiator, as well as other items solved with the help of my Icarsoft MBII scanner. Needless to say, having 6 of them so far (4 drivers and 2 parts cars), I really like these cars......Rich
