That is exactly the same as my first W116- same year and color. It was an awesome car at the time. If not for the rust, it would be a bargain.

That doesn’t look like fun to repair or anything superficial, more like a sign of a car with lots of rot.

Agreed. I'll say it again, if not for the rust it would be a bargain. Rust is where I draw the line, and is a deal breaker for me. I will not knowingly buy any car with "a little rust".

Probably right. Would need to examine it very closely and maybe get it for half that price. It’s a pity because it looks pretty nice in every other way.

No affiliation with this sale. Just came across it in my routine diesel looking. Looks nice.

Sub 100k mi 83 300SD just popped up on Denver CL, $1500. Looks like a NYC car so rust may be an issue, especially since it doesn't have factory paint on it...

https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/d/1983-mercedez-benz-300sd/6638226243.html

I tried to talk the wife into it as a new one for her, but have to get her a AWD Audi wagon . Very tired of working on the VAG cars. Hopefully somebody at least saves the drivetrain if it really is that low mileage.

Those wheels look like Ronal, and could be worth a bunch. They may even be 15". I actually have a friend that lives in Centennial, and I can have him check it out.......Rich

This is probably the nicest condition 300SD I have ever seen, and it's local to me: https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/d/sd-showroom-condition/6642672425.html $17,995 for this one.

>> Also great for making the quarter panels rattle if played loud enough.

Makes the quarter panels of all the neighboring cars quiver a bit too some times.
