I had one years ago= great car. Plenty of smooth even power, and 30 MPG not uncommon.

That seems like a good value (assuming it's in as good of shape as advertised). Down here in LA, a beat up example needing tons of work easily goes for double that price, and a well-sorted example will be 2.5x-3x.

My father disconnected the AC (I believe) many years ago as it compromised the engine power.

yes, away from the Demonrat Republic of San Francisco Bay Area!
A man drove up to Mountain View a few years ago with a pistol on or under his belt, got out of the car for some reason and a local called the police who came and threatened to arrest him despite having a permit to carry from another area. Treated him like a bank robber, they raised their weapons told him to put his hands in the air. A real nightmare for him I'm sure. People here freak when they see a gun.

If you are thinking about the 190D above, that is a W201, not a W124. Yes they look similar in many ways. I had an '85 190D with the 2.2 and 5 speed, it was a fun car. Kinda like an underpowered sports car (if you can imagine what that is like). They do handle quite well, and the 5 speed makes all the difference in the world. Someone here should buy it. I would love to do so myself, but I have six cars on my insurance now, and don't need any more......Rich
