It will probably act like my SDL when the front sensors pick up some junk. The light comes on and the system defualts to regular brakes.

These early ABS systems are pretty much added on, so if they break you don't have to fix them.

Has anyone actually done this upgrade? Can you point out any issues that need to be kept in mind or parts needed that might not seem like common sense to have on hand?
I thought a 25-30 year old cruise control was scary let alone 30 yr old abs systems!

Yup, she works in the northeast. People drive pretty aggressive all the time there, but during rush hour it's much worse.

People get hit because they walk out into rush hour traffic expecting everyone to see and stop for them. Much less risk if you cross at the crosswalks when the light says to walk.

Yeah John got his 300CD going pretty well, and that thing had tires with a ton more grip than those little stock 14's.

The thought came to my mind.

Mercedes aka "Tons of hardened German Steel" with huge engine block and crumple zone vs. your typical North Eastern commuter honda/toyota/ford plastic disposable car, who is going to be better off?

I'd say take all that money you would have spent on the ABS add-ons and buy some insurance for all the poor saps with only plastic and tin between them and other cars.

Roosevelt Boulevard has three of the five most dangerous intersections in the US primarily because people drive so fast and don't stop at things like crosswalks and lights. They've just organized funding to replace all the crosswalks with pedestrian bridges.
