Replacing weatherstripping on w123

I'm about to replace the weatherstripping on my 300D since at highway speeds there is a very noticable wind noise from that area, plus the fact that the rubber looks pretty crappy

Has any one done this before and could give some tips on what to do?

Also, do I need to use Weatherstripping glue or, since there's a little channel it fits in, can I just push it in there?

Hi Capt. Kirk,3M weatherstrip adhesive would be the stuff to use.Just make sure you clean out the remnants of the old stuff. My car has a similar problem but it depends which way the wind is blowing or if I pass a large truck.A PO built up a layer of silicone where it had broken before.Good luck

The adhesive is needed only down the front edge of the door beneath the window level.

Did all 4 of my doors last fall. Got the parts from fastlane. You should plan on getting the 4-5 plastic rivits for the front door metal retainers because they are hard to remove without breaking them. You only need to glue a couple of places and it's easy to see where. The old rubber looked like it had glue all around but I don't think it's needed as the channel is very tight. The new rubber kind of rolls into the tracks. You won't believe how quiet your car will become. Even at 90+ I have no wind noise
Also the whole thing took about 10 minutes per door.

weatherstrip-Fastlane

Where/what is Fastlane? About how much did the new weatherstripping cost? Was there any problem getting the old out?

Thanks,
