I have certainly read a lot about that. Given that the compressor is free and like new, I'll probably use it. Your opinion is certainly appreciated, though; that's what this forum is about.
I have been told that the R4 compressors are now made by Bosch and that they are holding up better. That's what was installed on the aforementioned other 123. So maybe the answer to avoid as many issues is to purchase a new, not rebuilt, R4 compressor.
