Thanks for all the responses folks - I am surprised the brown is doing so well

I've never really thought of it like that before but you've got a point - I could start a sideline in a brown car...

Though in seriousness, stick with what you have. Manganese is a timeless paint job when it really shines and it does look very classic. It stands out next to green, blue, grey. What other car than a W123 can rock Brown and look good?
Brown is most certainly a suitable W123 colour

x2 thedon on petrol green. also x2 gator on that vibrant green above.

i had a brown 123, i know some people love the color, but to me unless fabulously clean, it always looked dull and municipal. i had a petrol green 123 and it looked great even dirty.

with the level of prep youve done, the world is your oyster. i prefer non metallic colors personally. id probably go with a forest green, burnt orange, or a bright blue like the fj cruisers

Of the metallic colours the green, never ever see it. I think the car pictured is NOT 876 that is a mint green (w116.0rg paint chips) of course chips always look different then the real thing.

My personal choice are non metallic colours, these were the classic colours like china blue really love it, or even a lighter baby blue. The pastel grey or whatever it was called was nice too, I like the simple look and very classic colours that are no longer used or common these days.

I've had many cars with many different colors. There was no color I did not like. They all looked fine to me after I got used to it and I liked the color and accept it. I vote keep it the same color. It will look great with a new paint job!

"They" say it is harder to spray metallic so as this will be the first time I've sprayed a whole car I kind of want the challenge of metallic. I hope it does look great with a new paint job...

...we'll have to see

@everyone thanks for the voting and the comments - they do help

If it was my car, lapis blue would have a slight lead over charcoal gray. I would not even consider the other colors.

I do like the lapis blue too - but then with a back dash...

...and the blue ones always look so cheap and tacky - and then I'd want one sans / zonder / without cracks...

That's the way I feel too about the metallic colours listed. I think the Green is awful and it is, along with brown, one of the worst colours when it comes to resale value. I would think that you may have have seen enough brown/rust by the time you get to painting

Not just because we have it, but I like our off-white 737 for 123s and black or a dark blue for the 126s.

However, colour is a personal thing. There are many great colours and some can be seen on these links (MBeiges car always looks stunning and I love that Midnight blue, near the end of the thread.

Lapis blue gets my vote. I have a lapis blue 240, and it is the nicest metallic color in my opinion (of the choices given). I am also of the opinion "if it's brown, flush it down" ('nuf said about that). I also don't like any kind of gray (anthracite), because in a certain light and time of day, that color car becomes invisible and blends with the road. I have had so many near misses with this color car on the road, that I have developed a dislike for it. I had 2 cars this color before, and several times cars have pulled out in front of me, and I have had to forgive them, as I know how they feel- my car was invisible. As others have said, I agree with the fondness for non-metallics. I think you can't go wrong with white or ivory (most favorite) or even Signal Red (my first 'Benz color).....Rich

I really like the gray color, ESPECIALLY on a classic MBZ, but your disappearing act is the reason I voted blue ahead of gray. My Mr2 is a dull silver/gray, about the color of asphalt. Here in Oregon the sky is that color more often than not. I drive with my headlights on a lot.
