				W123 (85 300D) alternator pivot bolt

This is the one at the bottom.

On my car, the bolt is missing! Must have fallen out! Checked with dealer and there are none in Canada. Have to order from Germany. Part N000931010388 Does anyone know the dimensions and especially, pitch of thread on the bolt? Dealer's EPC doesn't show it. I have a 100mm M10 bolt with 1.5mm pitch. To try it, I will have to try and align alternator with bracket holes first, but might be hard to see if it threads in properly. Or move alternator up out of way. Not so easy with turbo, coolant lines etc in way.

Iirc on my engine that hole is not threaded, the bolt goes straight through and is kept tight via a nut. I have an OM617 at home that is completely disassembled, I will see about getting you the correct bolt size when I get home tonight.

By the way, epc shows no nut - just a lock washer under head. I "think" there are threads at front end near the belts.

That is correct. The head of the bolt is to the rear.

Local Lowes (Hillman) has M10x1.25 in 75mm and 100mm lengths in stock. If bracket has fine thread, those might work. Otherwise have the M10x1.5x100mm

(100mm too long but could cut to length)

Mine also has a bolt with a self locking nut on the opposite end.

What is interesting is I have read at lest 3 threads over the years where that Bolt was to rusted in to remove easily. And in your case it removed itself.

Looking at this epc diagram, it seems there are/were two versions. One with nut (Part 155) and one without (part 158). I think mine would have been 158 because I can get 10mm bolt in rear end, but not in from front. The part 155 and corresponding nut does not show down below in this link for 123.133 But does for 123.130 but even then seems to have been superceded. https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/epc/mercedes/1/m/617952/67k/15/105/?chasis=12313368K The location of that bolt is such that it has permanent rustproofing/lubrication - at least on my car No wonder it fell out!

In the first illustration #170 is the nut.

The first illustration should be non-applicable for an '85 model.

				85 300D alternator pivot bolt

I'm doing that right now, there's no nut on that and it's a coarse thread. I don't know the thread pitch, but the bolt is 125mm long from the shoulder.

It is, but that illustration is not for the 123.133 (like my 85 turbo diesel) If I look for a 123.130 USA version, it shows both types. Big difference in price for alternator lower bracket! Maybe that is when they went to double belts (bigger alternator?)
