I think one possible reason why time seems to go "faster" as we get older is because the longer we live, the smaller the percentage of of our lives that is represented by any one discreet chunk of time. For example, when one is ten years old, one year = 1/10th of one's life. When one is 50, one year = 1/50th of one's life. Thus the one year seems longer to a 10 y.o. because it represents a bigger chunk (or percentage) of his life. To a 50 y.o. one year is only 1/50th of his life, thus it feels like a shorter period of time. At least this is the one explanation that makes sense to me. Time is relative...

I remember as a kid laying out in a nearby summer hay meadow looking up at the puffy nimbus clouds imagining cartoon shapes and castles. My watch would tick loud and slow. The clouds shifted shape lazily and the sounds of life were unhurried. Now my watch sounds like castanets in the hands of a flamenco dancer. Things happen so fast that I can no longer assimilate and collate information. It's a bubblesort routine in an infinite database. |

I did a A.D.D test on line at a site I now forget, you'll have to Google to find them...
Well, I found and completed two because I did not believe the results of the first test. The results on both said : Highly Probable. The test is quite long and you must be perfectly honest. I found myself going..." Oh yeah...That's familiar.....are you kidding ! "... My very good friend David whom I have known for 18 years told me that he thinks the financial strain of my 12 year marriage could well have triggered it. There are a lot of sites explaining the problems associated with ADD but none that seem to fit perfectly.. however, I do find this kind of thing frightening................ another reason I absolutely refuse to take drugs to kill off side effects rather than cue the illness. Lilly Announces Important Liver Safety Update to Strattera Label Indianapolis , IN , December 17, 2004 - Eli Lilly and Company announced today that it has added a bolded warning to the product label for Strattera, an attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) medication. The bolded warning indicates that the medication should be discontinued in patients with jaundice (yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes) or laboratory evidence of liver injury. This label change discusses two reported cases of severe liver injury out of the more than 2 million patients who have taken the medication since approval. Both patients have recovered with normal liver function after discontinuing the medication. UNQUOTE..... I had very high blood pressure in 1992...270 over 160 and a pulse rate of 190. They injected me with something like Nitro glycerin that did not work. They then gave my sub lingual Nitro which give you a high. 30 mins later my pulse was 140 or so and BP at 160 over 95. For 10 years I took BP medicine, an Ace Inhibitor...as the use of computers became more prevalent, I started to research this drug. In fact, I researched a lot of drugs, those my wife was taking, including her Prozak. If you ever find time to check on your drugs the doctor is telling you you need for the rest of your life...I think you do what I did and look for alternatives. She became without conscience...she did stuff that was adverse to others but it didn't phase her. She couldn't care less.... Got into $45,000.00 debt and spent $160,000.00 over 9 years on crap stuff. that she later sold at garage sales.! Well, I'm out of that marriage now but I'm told the damage is done...... This is not a plea for sympathy, I do okay on my own now and am really liking it. My pre sleep pulse rate is 62....BP is now 130 over 75. with no medication. But I have trouble getting information fast enough into my head...seems it take too long to read a book to where it gets interesting and people talk too slowly !! So..........Waddaya fink ?

The plethora of instant technology available at our fingertips rather adds to this noisome, irritable life-race.
Everyone I'm sure, has had their golden age. In my case dropping out of high school to work in a junkyard and discovering a '28 Lincoln model L Brunn division window sedan that the new owners wanted removed from the premises,my anxious negotiations with owner of said junkyard and the eventual triumph of ownership and the long process of discovering antique cars, reveling in the quality and sheer expert workmanship with the technology then available and learning first hand long forgotten skills, babbiting, cylinder boring, balancing, paintwork, upholstery et,al. A love affair was begun that afternoon that has{to a great degree} dominated my life.

I was diagnosed with ADD as early as 3rd grade. I consistently refused help from any of the "Special-Ed" programs unless I felt I could use them to my advantage.
This continued through 8th grade. What I couldn't stand about the "Special-Ed" programs was that a certain assistant was assigned to a student as an in-class aid. Although they were generally nice, I felt my dignity being undermined and my intelligence being insulted by their smothering tendencies and insinuating personalities. For you fellas that are interested, http://www.amenclinic.com/ac/addtests/ The above is a link to an online test. Good news for me, I am likely NOT to have "adult ADD". Just answer truthfully

Another theory is that when you're young, every experience is new. The older you get, the more it is repetition.
I guess the secret is to do new stuff more often. Ken Silver -------------- ~1993 SL500, glistening triple black, xenons, AMG facelift to 2002 style. ~1999 SLK 230 Kompressor, silver/black leather, CD, immaculate ~1999 Lexus LX470, sand/ivory leather. ~1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara. black & silver. ~ex 350SL, 230E, 280E, MX5, Jaguar Daimler and a lot of other makes not nearly as nice.

I wonder if sometimes people think they might have ADD when they just need to lay off the refined sugar and caffeine.
I know I can get pretty wound up, and can have a hard time focusing when I've had 3 strong cups of German coffee with plenty of sugar and creamer...expecially if I don't get around to eating anything that's considered a decent/healthy meal. Then there is also the theory that television has influenced people also. How? Well, every 5 minutes they stop the show, and make you take in 3-5 short segments on different topics, and then go back to where you left off in the show. It's as if you are being trained for ADD. my two cents.....gonna focus my attention elsewhere now...
