Typical crap. The guy makes $30 mil a year. Signed a contract a while back for $270 mil. With the way he pushes the war, combined with his painful condition that didn't allow him to sit on military toilets, keeping out of Nam, it's about time he ponied up some funds. Limbagged's latest crap.

I've always like Lifson...
October 19, 2007 The Media's Dilemma
By Thomas Lifson Rush Limbaugh's political jiu-jitsu masterstroke comes to a climax at 1 PM, EDT today, when the The Mainstream Media have so far virtually blacked out the story, but when the auction is over and a highly impressive sum is paid, will they continue to ignore it? After all, the auction of a grilled cheese sandwich claimed to display the image of the Virgin Mary fetched only $28,000 and received widespread publicity in the US and overseas. Someone paying a million bucks or more for a contemporary letter is pretty big news, even without the charity angle. And this is no food product bearing a resemblance to sacred art, this is a historic document signed by 80% of the majority caucus of what is commonly alleged to be the world's greatest deliberative body. Rush Limbaugh has outsmarted the Democratic Leadership of the Senate and cornered the media. If the media do not cover the auction results, they will look ridiculous. The letter is easy enough to explain that it will inevitably be discussed at water coolers, sports events, churches, parties, and other get-togethers. But if the media do cover it, they must include some explanation for the high price, and that will make Reid and the Democrats look silly or worse. ---the middle part of the story at http://www.realclearpolitics.com/printpage/?url=http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2007/10/the_medias_dilemma.html --- Arrogance combined with the emotion of hate leads to dangerous mistakes. Reid and the media which gave initial credence to the Media Matters-generated smear of Rush have stepped in something whose smell may linger in the history of American politics. Thomas Lifson is the editor and publisher of American Thinker.

Man, your predudice is showing. You obviously have a hatred for this man. It clouds your thinking to the point that you no longer make sense, Thats OK, and is your right. Just do not kid yourself that you are making rational, logiocal arguments. Your conclusion is that Rush is a villian, therefore you require that everything he does is evil. Rush has been promoting this charity with a special day every year for quite a while. You don't know about it because no one in the old media covers it; it does not promote the story line that Rush is evil. Reid, and the dems were clearly in the wromg on this issue. Maybe when the US Senate ( or at least a partisan faction of it) tries to intimidate you, you will the inappropriateness of their action. And if that ever happens, I will be at your side, arguing that it was a tremendous abuse of power--provided I have not already been silenced. Remember, you must protect the speech that you hate, or there is no such thing a freedom of speech.

OK, not one of you Rush apologists deigned to remark on his comments about someone who was criticising him, the remarks that went, "we're going to find out where you kids go to school," etc. The guy has no class.
He doesn't have the balls to admit to a single mistake, even wiggling out of the tacky Chelsea Clinton thing. I cannot respect such cowardice, I'm sorry. And then on the air, he denies ever attacking the little kid who spoke about SCHIP or his family, and then in the same breath, 3 seconds later, he apes the boys awkward speech (the result of a partially paralyzed vocal chord). Unbelievable. As for Reid et. al. being clearly in the wrong, I saw Rush's various remarks about troops who don't toe his line and it goes beyond the one guy he keeps insisting it was all about.

If you'll include a link to the entire transcript re: Limbaugh's remark that offended you I'd be glad to read it. You'll understand if I won't go with just a snippet of text, I'm sure.

The point about SCHIP is that the dems trotted this boy out to obviously play on emotions, and to say that the expanded program was required to help people like him. The Dems made him a political target; not Rush. The boy and his family were private citizens until the Dems used him for political purposes.
The fact is that he and his family WERE covered and helped by the current program--to say that expanding it was needed to was not supported by the illustration.

It's not ridiculous.
The Dems had this ALL LINED UP AND READY TO GO AS SOON AS BUSH PUT VETO PEN TO PAPER. These "dog and pony" shows are just that. "Oh, look how the big, bad President is treating the little boy and his family." Makes me want to drive to DC and kick everyone in that photo-op (except the family) in the nads. Problem is, I wouldn't be able to find one nad, let alone a pair of them in a sac, among the lot of them. Then the family would get a slap up the side of the head for being so stupid to allow themselves to be turned into media-stew the way they were. And the parents get to hang onto their kid, after what they made him do? How much did mom and dad get paid for that little show? Did anyone ask that? Did the kid get anything (other than "coaching" on his presentation?) besides a free ride to DC? Yah, Democrats using the little people to keep their own @55es in office...there's a new one.

I agree, it was a poor example to use this family the way they did.
The family was covered under the old format already. Why does it need to be expanded to include poor families that make a combined total of $83k a year? That’s social health care, that’s not what I want my government doing as An example lets look at the big up roar how the wounded soldiers were Put in some not so healthy conditions at the VA hospitals, and they Want our government to run health care Nation wide…..NO!! |
