I would agree UNLESS someone can tell me that the people were so mentally retarded that they didn't know that they were doing something they should not and/or didn't know it was a cop giving a legal order to move.

At the Nuremburg trials, the Nazis statement in defense of their war crimes was "We were merely following orders". So, if a cop tells you to get down on your knees and prepare to meet your maker, you should do it? (it is, after all, a LEGAL order, right?).

You and a few others have stated opinions supportive of the UC Davis police. I have no training or experience with crowd control, but your opinions seem contrary to everything I have read and heard about the incident.
