Absolutely! Next time they'll probably have some friends in the crowd armed with rocks ready to pelt fatso when he makes a move for his canister.

I have to give you credit for your vivid imagination. He looks like a cartoon character to me.

Obviously you've never heard of the Simpsons.

I was under the impression Mr Simpson was an operator in the control room of a nuclear power plant?

First you have to catch them. The average college student is Carl Lewis compared to their uniformed powdered-sugar-sprinkled adversaries. Unless some kid is stupid enough to try to seek refuge in a Dunkin' Donuts, he'll be fine.

People enjoy seeing pain being inflicted on others, no matter what the reason.

Yes you do. You choose to call them "peaceful protesters" and gloss over the fact that unless they are mentally retarded, they do KNOW that they have no business doing what they did. Sprayed, the "peaceful protesters" are much easier to remove than un-sprayed. When there are that many people to remove, you have to admit it makes the job easier and safer for the cops regardless of the UC Davis brass tossing them under the bus to save their own political skin

Only when they so richly deserve it, from what I can see

We have to look out for police safety first and foremost, don't we?

One thing that is being overlooked is this: Once the number of protesters vastly outnumbers the number of police, it is a different game. The people have always had the power to strip government of it's power, however, the problem is most of them actually support governmental insanity.

After years of the mindless moronic people supporting governmental insanity, there is no turning back. The government by it's very nature becomes more and more corrupt with POWER. It's the nature of things. Hitler and the Nazis comes to mind......anyone caught speaking out against the Nazi party and/or Hitler was promptly dealt with and I'm not talking pepper spray here.....

People get the government they deserve.

That's silly. I just agreed with you that "The creeps knew what they were doing was wrong and defied LEGAL orders to disperse." How is that "glossing over"?

I don't recall describing them as "peaceful", although I think they were. They were peaceful law breakers. That's why they've gotten the upper hand in the PR battle.

You seem to think that I have concluded that the cops were wrong. I don't know what I said that makes you think that. I think they were wrong, but I have said multiple times that I have no expertise in crowd control and don't really know what is the best way to handle recalcitrant protesters. If you like, I can repeat that same thing about 60 times, if you think that would strengthen my position.
