When I was in Dubai I bought my Mrs. a dress with an elaborate design using those silver "sequiters".

So that dress was a non-non-sequiter dress.

I'm not disputing the facts of the incident. The UC Davis police hosed down the protesters with pepper spray. I'm not disputing that. My point is the whole thing is orchestrated and planned by the protesters. The entire event was designed to provoke the police by breaking the law and not obeying the police when asked to move along. This is exactly the outcome the protesters wanted.

The president of UC and the president of UC Davis both apologized for the actions of the police. I guess they're fools too.

It was correct in that they were forcing themselves on others and refused to end it. IF they had kept to the legal codes, I would agree with you. This is NOT the same. That is, unless you like their message and are willing to cut them some slack

It is odd that you simply want to gloss over what happened and paint them in the light you choose. The facts are very simple. No illegal orders of any sort were given by the cops. My personal prejudice against cops aside, I cannot find that they gave illegal orders. The creeps knew what they were doing was wrong and defied LEGAL orders to disperse. You choose to call them peaceful protesters and glorify them. If they were peacefully assembled AND protesting withing the law, you would be right but what you refuse to see is the "AND" part of the equation. I suspect it is simply because of your refusal to see the situation in the light it is that you may glorify the actions of the creeps. I wasn't trying to address that issue. The point I tried to make, but didn't, is that you seem to think the pepper spray cop acted appropriately. I think he didn't, but I have no expertise in these matters. My question is whether you know of any knowledgeable law enforcement people who agree with you that the police acted appropriately.
