Why do people keep making derogatory comments about Michelle Obama? Most people, including myself, find her quite attractive. Back in December, Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) said this:

Really? Jim Sensenbrenner thinks Michelle Obama has a big butt? Redirect Notice

It's a cheap shot -- the same level as "yo momma wears combat boots." People who can't make a cogent attack on a politician descend to attacking their spouses.

Not my type (doesn't matter, she just needs to be Mr. Obama's type), but not hideous or obese either.

why would yo deliberately miss this point? You know what he means, a corporation through loopholes being taxed as an individual to avoid higher rates, vs a commercial organization. Why do you think its acceptable for a fortune 500 to pay the same taxes as a mom and pop grocery store? I think the practice is despicable, and by closing those loopholes, we generate revenue from place which are currently avoiding paying appropriate taxes, and without increasing YOUR taxes. You should be all for it

I think her initiatives to make school cafeteria food healthier are impossible to attack because of the self evident good sense. When you can't argue with what someone is doing, personal attacks are the next best option, case in point this fat old out of shape representative making this rude, poor taste comment.

Actually Czar describes quite well the way the B.O. sees and uses his appointees. They do things without congressional consultation or approval, so I can't think of a more descriptive term.

Larry's reasoning goes like this:

People work for corporations, so corporations are people.

That's as far as it goes. That's all there is. No hay mas. Es todo.

People work for corporations and people own corporations. I'm with Larry on this limited point. Corporations are not people in a literal sense, but you can't affect a corporation without also affecting its owners and employees. So, in that regard, I don't think Mitt was off base when he made his infamous, "Corporations are people, my friend," remark. The only problem with it was that he said it in such an annoying and condescending tone. The man is truly weak on people skills.

As for the Citizens United case, I haven't read it and have no idea whether it is correct. I wish the case hadn't happened, but that doesn't mean it is inconsistent with the Constitution.

Absolutely. Why would you think otherwise?

Whichever of the two parties is in office, the SOTU address has become little more than an opportunity to spin the negative, pander to their supporters (who smile and pat themselves on the back for having been so smart as to elect such a great pres) and lay blame for anything negative anywhere outside of their little circle.

Oh, and it's also a way to commandeer the airwaves for a pointed political message.

Sounds like typical SOTU to me...

Or how things are currently for that matter. I bet sales of Pepto-Bismol will be off the charts today, except to people like TW and goatboy whose mancrush on BO make them feel all warm and fuzzy no matter what he says or does! BTW- who was the strange looking person next to Obamas porky spouse?
Very eloquently stated and well-thought out response for sure. Who's goatboy??

I think he is putting a pretty smart strategy in place. The GOP has become the party of doom and gloom. The GOP response was more of the same "the sky is falling" crap. What is becoming their really, really big problem, is they don't seem to be able to articulate what exactly they are going to DO about any of our problems. They have not offered any plan or solution to anything. It's just a constant repetition of "If we get rid of Obama, all our problems will be solved!". Worked for awhile, but it has become nauseating thanks to the GOP Primary Clown Show, where Mittens keeps smirking "If we get rid of Newt, all our problems will be solved!" as Newt screams "if we get rid of that Socialist Romney, all our problems will be solved!", and yet neither one of them seems to be able to tell us anything about how we are really going to solve our problems, because they just represent more of the same hyper-partisan shyte. After gaining power in the House, where legislation is, according to the COTUS, supposed to originate, they didn't originate anything, and blocked everything. In my lifetime, I've never seen the angriest guy elected president, or the ones least willing to do anything elected to Congress. Just being pissed off about everything isn't a platform, it's a disgrace. Obama on the other hand, offers a compelling and optimistic view of the future, if we want that future. I think, with old sourpuss Orange Boner behind him, he pretty well mapped out his road to re-election.
