My daughter has been stealing the wife and I blind. The folder pump was in a storage room and that's why I didn't notice it missing until today. I have a folding job to do that I will have to do by hand.
Can you use some Appalachian Engineering and rig a shop-vac to it?

To attack your parents is fundementally wrong no matter what feelings are involved. To steal from anyone is really wrong too.

I have to wonder about your daughters general mental condition and age. Sometimes a total parting is unavoidable I suppose. Still a kind of really sad occurance.. Is she involved in the modern drug culture? Something like that would explain a lot. Still not justifying the behaviour though.
She is 27 years old and only cares about herself.

Money. She loves us both, but wants what she wants and does what she has to do to get what she wants.

I can't believe you said that jp. That's exactly what I thought, we have a small shop vac, and I put it in the truck about an hour ago to take to the shop tomorrow. I guess great minds think alike.

No path is comfortable or easy. There is no path forward but thru LEO and charges; every other path is not forward. Sad but true.

I agree, I just worry if I call the police on her, that she might lose custody of her children. She is a good mother to her children.

In my humble opinion, in a family matter only call the cops when there is violence or child abuse involved. Change the locks. When you call the cops things can get out of hand really fast...and you won't be in control no more.

Can you take care of them for a spell? The bottom must be found before it gets too low. My neighbors have custody of their grandaughter from a mother involved in "modern drug culture"; they saved her (and mom) before mom nearly died.

No matter what our family prayers are for you and them.

The grand kids father has primary custody, she gets them on the weekends and in the summer for a month. She is Bi-polar and doesn't like to take her medicine.

My sister is bi-polar.

We utilized the funds from my father's estate to purchase a cooperative apartment in Brooklyn for her for about $175K. Renovated it to the tune of $15K so she would have a comfortable place to live.

The coop required a $2500. construction deposit as security against any damage caused to the building when the renovation was done. This amount gets refunded after completion..........provided no damage to the building was done.

We completed the renovation and the coop sent a check back in the amount of $2500. The check was sent to her as she is the resident of the building despite the fact that the Trust sent the funds originally.

She deposited the check in her account and sent a check to the Trust in the same amount at the same time.

I waited about one week for the funds to clear................

She ripped off the $2500.

No good deed goes unpunished.

clk, I truly feel for you - going thru a similar situation with regards to my sister and BIL, following my father's death. And very similar attitude on their part as well.

My father had his faults and did questionable thing in his life, like any other human being, but he did seem to have a gift for reading other people's true intentions. and in the case of my sister and BIL, he had them pegged a long time before he passed away. He and I had talked and made a basic plan as to what to do in the event he passed away first, to prevent the two of them from trying to take advantage of my mother.

As I mentioned in another thread, one of the first things Mom and I did was to deed the house and land over to my name, with a lifetime estate provision for her, so I had full legal rights as property owner, and say as to who and what was done with the property.

Thank gawd that we did, otherwise they would have flat-out pushed her out of the house several months ago. To say they were pissed off when they found out the truth of the matter would be an understatement. Mom said that several times since one or both of them has tried to ORDER her to go back to the lawyer and get the deed revoked and put back in her name - at the least undoubtedly so they can then work on her and try to get her to borrow money against the house and land for their purposes, if not try to force her to sign it over to them outright.

I well know the attitude you describe - they seem to feel that they're entitled to anything they see and take a desire to have- and let someone else foot the bill - or just flat-out welch on the bill altogether. It's been one lie after another out of their mouths.

Difficult situation - but from a practical point of view - getting the pump back...

How many scrap yards are there in your area? Can you do a bit of CSI detective work and see if you can get the pump back? It might be easier than adapting the vacuum cleaner or whatever you had in mind...

Sorry to hear that, Robert. I know you've been dealing with it for some time.

That was my first thought as well, it might not be that hard to recover. Although if they're anything like the scrap guys up this way, they'd probably still charge you for it even after hearing your story.

Just an opinion but, if she is in fact a thief, then she isn't a good mother.
