My oldest daughter is a Pediatrician. When folks start going on about how much docs are paid I always say consider this.....it takes 11 years before they can start working in their chosen professoin (or so), they come out with maybe a quarter of a mil of debt, they get calls in the middle of the night, and consider how it is when they have their first patient (in my daughter's case a child) dies.

She worked hard to get the license and she works hard at the profession, taking calls at all hours from patients.

Hey Justin.

Maybe you should add to this thread: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/open-discussion/327125-classic-match-com-bio-her-single-status-not-doubt.html I could use a good wing man. Maybe Jim could too.

Jim,

What's the latest? I expect that there should be at least some easing of grief by now.

All the best for her.

Hahahahah! I am a pretty good wingman!

Though your target and my target might be vastly different! I am OK with cougars though. They seem to be a bit more dirty....

Hmm, where's Hatty? I hear he is a good wingman/needs a wingman!

So what happens when the person dies on her shift? I'm sure my wife has lost count of how many times that has happened and that runs the whole scope from a premie infant all the way to a 108 yo person.

For me it philosophically wouldn't be as hard to accept the death of an elderly person as they would be at the end of their life.

I just don't see how one could get acclimated to the death of an infant or a child without it affecting you everytime.

Out twins were born very premature and were in the neonatal ICU for about 3 months.

During their stay there, a very tiny, premature baby passed away. The doctor had alerted the parents that death was imminent, and while I was there watching my kids, they prayed over the baby for God to take the child into heaven.

Even now just typing this it brings tears to my eyes.
