Wonder if they found any unused life preservers in the plane's wreckage?

To be safe, I was wearing mine the afternoon Teddy visited Texas A & M to christen the President GHW Bush library opening.

That is utterly uncalled for. jp is a fine family man who has coped heroically with with way more of life's slings and arrows at a young age than most people could even imagine, much less endure.

It sounds to me like the weather conditions changed after he took off.

What about those radios being on the wrong frequency? Is that something that the pilot routinely has to set each flight?

Its not that I cannot accept that he was fallible, I truly don't know about his skill level other than what is said in the report. I doubt you do either. I'm just trying to get at the truth of it using what is available to consider....without making anything up or reading his mind....posthumously.

I addressed the radio issue previously. It is the pilot's responsibility to change freq to the appropriate tower. In our airplane we have 2 communications radios. One is used on stby to either the emergency channel or a soon-to-be in range tower. The other is usually on a nearby tower listening or communicating. In either case, the pilot is responsible for looking up the radio freqs of the towers along his route and communicate as required or as necessary.

All judgement calls are left to the pilot. You can't expect the ATC to know the conditions in the airplane and besides, most ATC aren't pilots or if they are, probably not of the sme aircraft. It's safer to leave the judgement to the pilot than some goof on the ground.

Lightbulb

If you cannot find the info you seek on the Kennedy plane crash covered in the FAA/NTSB's report, I don't think you're going to find it.

To my knowledge and experience having read dozens of FAA/NTSB reports over the years, the FAA/NTSB reports are most complete, and accurate.

From what I read, it reads as if Kennedy lost control of a probable perfectly operating aircraft. Not hard to do considering his skill and experience level with IFR flight.

There's far more complicated FAA/NTSB forensic reports on aircraft with far more sophisticated controls and redundant systems on them, operated by far more experienced/skilled pilots than Kennedy - and they still lose a near perfectly functioning jet-powered aircraft to disaster because of pilot error. For whatever reasons Kennedy forensically was reported as having lost control of his aircraft, I would accept the FAA/NTSB's report, and move on.
