On my 500 S&W Mag, after 20 rounds of 350 grain bullets, my hand is trembling. So why would I want to shoot that as a plinker?

I'm not sure why you'd want to shoot one at all, unless it belonged to some other fool who'd paid for it and the ammo.

Target practice and then hunting? I don't usually buy guns to collect. I target shoot with them for practice and hunt with them or I use them for personal defense.

Why do people buy old cars for a collection? How about old furniture or other stuff? Why do people buy an old military vehicle?

To each his own. I like unusual guns as much as anybody. The original post was whether or not this particular item would be a good investment.
Like Hatty said, this gun's a toy. A novelty. The average shooter couldn't afford to "target practice" with it. The suitability of any weapon for hunting is of course debatable, but I'd be on the side of "not so much" with the DE. Face to face Grizzly confrontations maybe, but even then I prefer banging two sticks together to keep the bears away. So far it's worked for me 100% of the time.

I would think that they are a good investment from the standpoint that they don't seem to lose much value while you own them and play with them. They seem to hold the value well.

Facing a Grizzly, NWF would I want to bang sticks together. I'll let you bang the sticks and I'll make tracks.

Like I said, it works for me. I haven't seen a Griz around here ever. I bang sticks together on the porch every night.

Is that something like the ancients that make noise to scare the monster away so it doesn't eat the sun or something like that? I tried to google it but nothing comes up definitive for the stick banging thing. Black bear, maybe but not much on Grizzly bears

The Deagle is like a sports car, it exists because it can.

Its a very unique pistol that has a locking mechanism that's closer to an AR15 than any other pistol. The engineering is quite good, its a very interesting piece. I have no doubt that if someones hands were strong enough it could stand up to an IDPA pistol shoot, just no human on earth could pull it off.

I can understand why someone would want one in their collection, it represents what the Israelis and IMI is capable of when they are having a bit of fun. Total opposite of what they usually produce.

Its a lot like a 300SEL 6.3, that's what you get when engineers screw around.

I did drive my 91 Firebird all year long in WI so be careful with where you go with that comparison. Rain, shine, snow, etc, etc.

You don't have to shoot 50 AE all day. You can have it in 44 Mag and it is fine for plinking after gtting used to it.

I don't know. Do they produce a lot of junk? I have their rifle and it is a nice piece with a graphite barrel using a Ruger action. Interesting piece. The Desert Eagle is another animal altogether. It is easy to field clean and reasonably accurate and highly reliable.

Never looked at that car. A lot too old for my liking.

Point taken. I'll ride my sport bike down to 25 F. Rain or snow and I'm taking a car, however.

.44 Mag? I'd rather plink with .45 Colt. Truth be told I've been hankering after a .22 for the cheap ammo.

No personal experience with IMI, but considering the daily situation Israel has been in since its founding, I would think they would put a lot of effort into making weapons that aren't junk.

Here is where our tastes differ. If I had more money to spend on cars, there's an excellent chance I'd own a 6.3. I even very briefly considered picking up a low priced 6.9 that came up recently. However for the time being I'm on a budget that's more tuned to the automotive equivalent of a Kalashnikov.

IMI weapons in my experience are some of the best you can buy.

They use Russian base designs like the Swiss. But unlike the Swiss who never go to war and spend insane amounts of money building their firearms to OCD Swiss engineer standards; the Israelis don't. They use them so they need good fighting guns, but unlike the Russians they care about ergo's a bit and well don't want to field conscript junk.

The Galil and Uzi are two really amazing designs, as our their real fighting pistols which the Deagle is not one of. The Jericho's are based on CZ designs.

If you have to fight in a desert you can't really go wrong with anything IMI produces.

Naw, that's just silly superstition.

Well, help me out there then. Stick banging hasn't been listed as being highly successful. Mostly it is a gun or bear spray.

I don't care about lists. There has not been a bear on this property in generations thanks to our ritual stick banging. It works for ALL bear types.
