In the Past the term "Crackers" was associated with Poor White People who lived in isolated areas in the Country; Most often in the Mountains and more often in States below the Mason Dixon Line.

These People often interbred like marrying their First Cousins and other Relatives (if not Incest) and were called Crackers due to the Family resemblance; like all the Crackers in a Box of Crackers look similar to each other.
It is also a comment on the negative results of inbreeding; inferring someone is a Idiot or Imbecile.

There is also a lack of Education to part of the insult as in the past Schools rarely reached the isolated areas.

In the past another White Person was more likely to call another White Person Cracker; at least in Public.

In the Past being a Cracker was still considered above being Black.

The Compton Cracker comment was meant to be insult not humor.

I applied for a Mechanics Job with the Compton School District and the Black Lady took My application and ripped it in two and threw it into the Waste Basket and said I did not qualify; which was not true.

She said I had to have a current Class B Drivers License but in the Instructions on the Application it said I had 6 months after being Hired to get the License.
I had no Witness to the event and the Deadline to turn the Application in ended the next Day so there was no way for Me to protest.

Also in CA Law an Individual cannot record some ones Voice without telling them they are being recorded so that prevents you from planning ahead for situations You might need proof of.

I got called a cracker once. I was walking south on a downtown sidewalk minding my own business when three young black women who were walking north showed up. I was as far right as I could get without stepping over the curb and simply walked straight ahead. The young woman nearest me caught my shoulder on her shoulder. I kept walking and heard them call me a cracker.

If I had it to do over I would stop and let them walk around me I suppose.
