Yes you tried and you did help him in some ways. It is also good that you have the time and compassion for this. I would not feel too bad as he is in a better state now.

He was probably suffering a lot. He also was possibly a domesticated cat at some time in his life. As he let you pick him up.

My pet rabbit is 9 now and on his last legs.

Also my anole has a big lump on the side of his head just behind his eye. I suspect it will kill him one of these days.

The Mrs votes to not replace them but I have this romantic notion of myself as a gentleman farmer with my little menagerie of pets for the grandchildren to see, so I will most likely replace them.

We have a bunch of outdoor kitties that came with the house. Everyone is fixed, gets rabies shots, etc.

They're great buddies while working on the cars, and it's fun to watch them stalk rodents in the field. I'd definitely recommend.

My Fathers girl friend grew up in a depression era Farm (until they lost it) and she said that they had a bunch of Cats to deal with the Rodents and save as much Gain as they could. She said they seldom fed them anything.

In the first pic my Cat is apparently not satisfied with my Work.

The other picture is of one of my Cats eating a Gopher. That is the first time in my life I had ever seen a Cat actually eating a Rodent. Usually you simply find some piece of the Rodent left over but don't know what ate the rest of it.

Those stray Cats that people don't are actually responsible for some Rodent control even if it is not obvious to us.

I have seen my Cats with a Paw all the way up to their shoulder inside of a Gopher hole but they none have ever gotten bit.

I wish the feral cats 'round here would eat the squirrels rats & mice but they're stuffed from the crazy cat lady feeding them instead .

I feed my Cats as much as they want to eat and I still find bits of their kills.

My Wife was shocked when she saw the pic I posted of the Cat eating the Gopher. She believe if they were fed they would not do that.

We have some Squirrels in the neighborhood but on my walks I have never seen a dead one even as road kill. I don't think Cats are interested in them.

I was over at my other House which is in another City and growing up there and within the last year or so I had never seen any Squirrels. But yester day I saw one there.

Not sure what there food source is in that neighborhood. In this neighborhood there is a couple of streets that have large pine trees and you can see where they ate off of the pine cones. I am not sure what other trees they eat from but the Power Lines are their highway. They stay well above where any person or Cat could grab them.

We have a lot of feral cats here, as crazy ladies on each side of my house feed them.....raccoons too. I never have any mice in my garage. They also catch shrews.

I think a squirrel would be a handful for most cats. Just imagine how strong they are....they run up and down trees hanging on by their toenails.

There is a DVD about Rats in I believe it was Baltimore Maryland. One of the Cities Exterminators narrates and speaks to People on the street and spreads poison around. His conclusion was that the Rats reproduce too fast for the poisoning to keep up with them. When one Rat is killed it still leaves what ever resources the dear Rat was living on for the next Rat that comes along.

When I was in German the Garbage/Trash Containers were small and made of heavy steel with a steel lid that reminded me of a pressure cooker. The lid is locked down until stuff goes in or out.

The smaller Cities usually had a small dump area several miles outside of town (it is a wet place except in Winter stuff eventually rots away) I have seen Rats in the Dumps but not in the Cities. Also the Streets are kept clean and free of trash.

] have unlimited food, and they still kill all the mice/squirrels/voles/bugs they can.

Mouse vs catfood is probably like steak vs cereal for you & I.

Bugs eating surprised me when I saw it. The termites were flying around and one landed in from of one of my Cats and the Cats tongue was out and the termite was going. Since then I have seen them eat Grasshoppers and Butterflies.

My Anole's lump has mostly apparently sloughed off, and my rabbit who I brought into the house a week or so has perked up and is looking very healthy. I guess he was suffering in the heat a lot.

I have some dementia issues so I hope I have not related this Rabbit Story before.

My Neighbor behind me a cross the Alley had some Rabbits. Once in awhile one would get out and my Garage door is sprung out at the bottom on one end. The door is covered with Aluminum and the edges can be a little jagged. When one of her Rabbits got in the Garage I would see fur on the Garage door.

I would catch the Rabbit and bring it back to her.

One day the same thing happened and I went in the garage, chased the Rabbit, caught it and took it over to here house. She said it was not here Rabbit!

Fortunately she knew who it might belong to and it was someone 2 houses down on my side of the Street and I returned it.

What were the chances of someone else's Rabbit getting loose and heading for the inside of my Garage?
