170 MPH Colorado Highway Run Lands Motorcyclist Two Weeks in Jail
I am OK with this. Dude was sticking his thumb in the eye of public civility and trying to get paid for it. And having the audacity to film it.
One wonders at what speed he cut between cars. I had a guy the other day split me and another car, I would say at easily 90 to 100. Shocked the crap out of me. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a60617776/motorcyclist-jailed-170-mph-highway-run/ Quote:

I get through this area now and then on the way to my place in Colorado. Until recently it was under extensive construction.
Weaving between cars is sometimes the only way to go forward. This is a dangerous area to drive though at all much less at high speeds. |

My understanding is that lane splitting became legal in California with the implied understanding that it was only to be used in stop and go traffic. Air cooled engines can be damaged with too much low speed/no speed idling. Moving between parked cars at 10 miles an hour is really not too dangerous. But it’s way too common around here at speed. Every now and then you see a video of some bike, a handlebar clipping one car and then bouncing back-and-forth between the two cars they are between. I’m amazed it doesn’t happen more often.

I think he got off east. Only $2000 and 12 months no license. That’s nothing.

Self-ratting. What kind of a moron films himself doing something so stupid?
This. The feds, the staties and the locals get up every morning, have their morning coffee then start surfing the internet looking for sinners. As soon as they find a sinner, they start the process of demanding atonement for their sins. Remember, there are over 80,000 (and counting) so called "laws" that can land you, your family and your friends in hot water. Have you memorized all 80,000 of their so-called "laws"?? Perhaps it is time to hit your local law library and prepare to spend every waking hour of every day of your life reading their law books. Because, well, you know, you wouldn't want to be caught sinning against the crown now would you? |

Good Lord, the whining never stops.
They can find fools who drive 150 mph and split lanes at 100+ and make life inconvenient for them for a while with my blessing. Dude was using the public roadways and unsuspecting people going about their business to film an exciting drama and make money off of it. Do not pass Go, do not collect $100, go straight to jail.

PRISON INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX (PIC)
The powers that be must round up as many sinners as possible to keep their prisons-for-profit system running at full steam. Whether 17 miles per hour sinners or 170 miles per hour sinners, it makes no never mind. Just as long as they can slap the cuffs on them pronto. Check out the bail bond business; millions upon millions of dollars change hands every day through this simple business model.
Remember, money has nothing to do with their motivation to locate, arrest, fine and imprison sinners. ![]() ![]() |

I took me a thousand years to figure it out.....
for years and years I listened to politicians, lawyers, judges, etc trying to explain the definition of a "crime". After much reading, cussing and discussing it came to me one day clear as a bell:
A: Common law crime ONLY exists when a man, woman or child suffers either death or injury at the hand's of another man, woman or child. B: Common law property damage ONLY exists when property suffers actual damage at the hands of another. There must be a dollar amount attached to the damage. This brings us to the OP; since motorcycle man didn't cause either A or B (above), no common law crime exists. He is only guilty of "thought crime" (see George Orwell's novel, "1984"). Around 75 out of 100 people sitting in prison or jail today, right now, april 30, 2024 have committed no common law crime. NO JUDGE OR COP can point to a man, woman or child who was either injured or killed or suffered property damage. NONE, NADA, ZILCH, FORGET IT, ALL THEY HAVE IS HOT HOT HOT AIR. These poor souls simply made the mistake of stepping on Caesar's private parts. Caesar didn't like it so Caesar threw them in lock-up. Last edited by qualified-merc; 05-01-2024 at 12:34 PM. |

for those who wish to expand their knowledge base, I highly recommend the book, "The Law" by Frederic Bastiat. As far as anyone can tell, the powers that be have simply monetized all laws, codes, rules, regulations, statutes etc.
If you are unlucky enough to violate/break one of their 80,000++ codes, rules, statutes, laws, etc, you best get your checkbook out pronto because they want their pound of flesh. They have no problem extorting you for your house, your wife, your car or your bank account. Give us your money OR ELSE. Geez, doesn't the mafia operate this way? https://www.amazon.com/Law-Frederic-Bastiat/dp/1684226295/ref=sr_1_4?crid=IBPDGS89DBX7&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.t1YsbTfatKTHaVfshYNah5sVIp29HpmiN9LE0bVMNsqbMN-qmBxbzD_XPcgH3Pnu5CXneIZsk54CgPgQyomT-H3HR-A1tbRuTWpCY1j_lOa3LdPegwSJzomJs-B8KnMbDm6dTMT6nCLTSdljA_4633ohwbNucoJRDK-yh9A0oCWp7nyQyWk2SdQG2gZCh-Gq2q5SPOdiNHKkGAHPdKrDephTFa0_0iYWM0z6RdObna0.MqhyjJw9dhU6_SXPQ8nAdCMpOeKgiIqQl9MWyaZKLFU&dib_tag=se&keywords=the+law+bastiat&qid=1714577400&sprefix=the+law+bastia%2Caps%2C308&sr=8-4 and then there is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXE_n2q08Yw |

1. If the man or woman arrested has a job and needs to be at work monday morning at 8:00 AM, they post bond to get out of jail so they can be at work on monday morning. 2. If the man or woman arrested does NOT have a job, they generally go ahead and take advantage of the three hots and a cot offered to them by the jail. They might rot in jail for a year or two until their case comes to trial. So, who do you think is paying for all this free housing and free food? |

I’m sure they would. It would be a pretty stupid thing to do.
Speaking of pretty stupid, I see bikers bobbing back-and-forth, threading the needle between cars doing 20, 30 mph. It’s not good. The arrogance of these guys is astonishing. There’s no easy answer. Oh well.

We have a family member who died while riding his motorcycle. Hit some sand, lost control then hit a telephone pole while at speed. Years ago, I used to ride but sold my bike years back and haven't been on one since and don't intend to ever ride again.
Physics 101: two wheels are not as stable as four wheels. Hit a wet spot or oil slick and the bike will go out from under you. |
