no you don't need a spring compressor

I just changed out my UCA on the 87 300SDL without compressing the spring. just remove the wheel and support the hub while R&R. LCA is a different story.

if you pump a vacuum with the Mityvac or use the vacuum pump on the car, the gauge will register whatever vacuum is present.

I just did this on my 87 SDL and it made a lot of difference. I rented the spring Compressor from overdrive. I would not risk my life trying to save $20. it cost $40 plus shipping ($7 each way)....

I add D.E. to the raw BD

then mist wash for a while. then filter thru D.E. lined with coffee filters. I get really clear BD and runs well.
