it went up 6 or 7 cents two days ago.. I say 6 or seven cents because the price was 2.69

the sign says 2.75 on one side and 2.76 on the other.. Ill find out tomorrow when I fuel up.. and they are probably blaming the raise on the switch to "summer blend"

weak sauce

On Tuesday RUG had risen to $2.699 and diesel had dropped to $2.719. I thought diesel was finally going to drop below gas. Today RUG was $2.759 and diesel was up to $2.799.

If my driving was conducive to VO, I'd probably do it. I just wouldn't build up enough heat. I'd really like to buy some bio-d but I haven't found any around me.

I think with all the 12 volt VO heating gadgets on the market now, in addition to a coolant-based heating system, you could easily get your VO up to temp within 3-5 minutes of starting the car, depending on the weather. And purging doesn't usually take more than 30 seconds.

I just filled up at Sunoco for 2.639.

Diesel in the Seabrook area on Rt 1 is just a few cents more than regular unleaded. Diesel in Portsmouth area on Rt 33 just off I95 runs a couple of cents more than midgrade at 2.699. Of course there are places off of Rt 16 near abouts North Conway that have diesel pegged higher than premium unleaded, still.

Go to www.biodiesel.org and click on find a retailer. bio is available in every state now! I'm paying less for bio than everyone else is for gas and diesel around here!

DC NOVA suburbs went up about 10 cents to $2.79. I went down to the b20 dealer at the Pentagon (just off Columbia Pike) who still had it at about $2.67 last week. Something is wrong with their pump though and you'll probably spend 15+ minutes filling from empty.

The hybrid model doesnt do much better in real world driving either only 5mpg more WOW extra $2K for an extra 5mpg.

As for SUV's unless your talking about a ford escape or even the hybrid they dont do that well either. Real world driving is what you have to look at not whatever EPA says since they test at 55mph.

Only new sedan that will reach the 40-50mpg range is a 06 VW jetta TDI. And yes in REAL WORLD driving. EPA states 33/44mpg and as you break the engines in they go way above that. Older VE TDI's can go as high as 60mpg.

No gasser SUV or car can ever reach what a newer technoloy diesel can. and shoot no gasser can out run a new technology diesel in performance either.
Dude-- The neon's window sticker was rated at 39 Highway MPG in 1997. It's a shame you've got to buy a Yaris to get LESS fuel economy these days-- Lighter, smaller, smaller engine, less equipment AND lower fuel economy.

Explain it

Fuel prices skyrocketed here in Grand Rapids last night, regular is 2.75, diesel is 2.95!!!! (as is premium) Only 6 more cents till its equally cheap to use veg oil cut with RUG from sam's club.

Oh, and I hiiighly doubt a neon can get 39mpg. Maybe downhill with the engine off. We drove one to PA on the freeway 4 years ago to get my SD, we went 75 on cruise control the whole way, and only averaged about 26-28mpg. The car only had 11,000 miles on it, so it was a best-scenario mileage too.

Are you calling me a liar?

Bear in mind, this is a first-generation DOHC(discontinued in second-generation cars) MTX model. The car weighs 2,500 pounds, has a decent drag-coefficient(.32) and has exceeded the 39mpg I quoted many times in the last 10 years of driving. I'm not stupid and I wouldn't lie about something so trivial-- let alone to people I consider friends.

On a trip to Ohio-- the car got 425 miles per tank. It routinely travels 150-175 miles on $10.00. On the last day of Hanukkah, it traveled 192 miles on a ten. It might not be 39, but it's damned close-- and with 150,000 miles on unchanged MTX fluid, original axles, wheel bearings I've never serviced and
with no servicable fuel filter-- that's damned impressive.

Would you like me to make a video and youtube it for you? I'll put 5 bux in it and tape the entire drive until it sputters. We'll wager what?

Diesel is up to $2.75, it went up a dime in my area. 93 is damn near $3.

I'll have to see what fuel does this summer, because if it stays over $3 a gallon that will affect my buying decision this fall when I get another car.

I'm cheap so I don't like to spend money on fuel. So if its below $3 a gallon, I can look at E55's , above then its E320/300D shopping.

Long as a car gets over 20mpg I'm happy, I don't want to drive a cheap tin can even if it gets 40mpg.

I do not think you are being called a liar. I drove a first gen Neon as a rental car. The thing could not get out of it's own way. It did get good fuel mileage though. The Neon, to me, is about as impressive as the Chevy Corsica. Not the car for me, but I do know other's that are happy with them. Either way, it's not a Ford!

BTW, Diesel jumped 10 cents a gallon overnight. It's at 2.79 cash, 2.85 credit at the local Pilot.
