Count me in. I have 3, all bought in the last year 2008. I hoard SDLs.

87 300SDL - Smoke silver, 260K. Grey leather. Primium sound. Chrome wheel. Daily driver. Keyless remote control. Everything works.
87 300SDL - Smoke silver, 321K. Maroon leather. Chrome wheel. Reclining back seat. Daily driver. Keyless remote control. Everything works.
87 300SDL - Arctic white 280K. Head replaced by previous owner. Rust bucket. Nothing works well. It was intended as a part car but in the process of restoring it.

I love this car!

87 SDL - BLue w/ Tan Interior - 124kmi - original head - Im the third owner here in Albany, NY and this thing has never seen a winter. theres not a spec of rust (rare for up here). Luckily I have a jeep as a winter beater so I was able to let her hibernate in the garage until last weekend.

Champagne acquired last November 2009 after my 82 SD was submerged in a flood.

I got the limo last 2006 and makes money as a bridal car.

A #14 head is the original cylinder head the OM 603 engine came with. It has a reputation for being weak and prone to cracking IF the engine overheats. There are plenty of stories about them failing but there are also examples like mine with almost 350,000 miles and no issues. You can see the casting number If you look between the intake runners.

Do a search on #14 head for more info...

1987 SDL champagne/palomino On 2nd #14 head. Mileage unknown as the odometer began sticking years ago and finally stopped all together at 197k. Am down to fixing the trans fluid leak and the sunroof.

I have one with approximately 225,000 miles(odometer broke at 207k). When I purchased it, it was mechanically sound but the interior was in very poor shape with no working AC. It was $1200. It's been mostly problem free, but a few issues are starting to surface, such as the power brake booster needing replacement, and a strange grinding noise when turning. I've regularly changed the oil every 3,000 miles or 6 months(whichever comes first), and my brake pads are less than a year old.

That being said, I do drive the vehicle very hard, using the accelerator as an on/off switch.

I'm in, 86 SDL that spent time in Phoenix AZ. 130,000 on the original engine and then 10,000$ engine rebuild. 130,000 on the rebuild. It has the same skinny pedal on off switch as the above post. Nice option. I only have 500 miles on it so I'm still shaking it down. sterior was stolen so they trashed the console, leather is fried from the Phoenix sun and no love. Need to get it de-bugged and hold it down in the desert. My guess is it will run fast enough to scare me. Seat skins from Daw and misc parts from Lee. Daily driver. I miss my 123 but at last count I had 12 autos in the driveway so........Thanks

My SDL...

I have one: '87 300SDL with 129K (orig?! who knows).... Very comfy ride, but slower pickup than my 300D - wonder if that's normal. I do believe the transmission shifts to 3rd a bit too quickly when cold... guess that's been identified in earlier posts as a 'classic' problem?! Hope there is a simple cure 'cause I love the car otherwise - restored the seats and the zebrano.
