one- and two-cylinder MB diesel engines?

The other day, at whunter's house, I mentioned that I am looking for a one- or two-cylinder MB diesel between displacements of 0.75 - 1.5 liter. He says they're all over the place, especially in reefer set-ups.

I do know that the early reefer engines were OM636 four cylinder 1767 cc engines, which would be too big. Thermo-king replaced many MB diesels with Yanmar diesels, which I do not want, would prefer an MB diesel of one- or two-cylinder type, IF I could find one.

Anyone know where these are hiding?

Google searches have thus far yielded nothing.

Thanks in advance.

maybe a Deutz/hatz/farymann? don't think Mercedes made any diesel engines that small (at least not after WWII)

I have found a listing in 2005 in a forum for an OM 632 not a misprint, two-cylinder, but no others.

I have had thoughts of a 2 cyl Diesel for a motorcycle. Being an MB guy, it would be a great engine to graft into a H D frame (if only they existed and can be had).

I've been looking at small one or two cylinder stationary diesel engines over here for the last 6 months or so and I've not come across any Mercedes ones yet - which is just as well 'cos that one would have been bought on the spot!

There are a lot of two-cylinder diesel powered motorcycles shown on YouTube, Royal Enfield made them as standard until the late 1960s, according to the videos.

OM632 is a small 2 cylinder marine diesel from MB, but I think thats the smallest they made, not sure what the displacement is, I would assume maybe around 1 liter? Spec is 19 horsepower.

OM632 is kind of big, what are you trying to use it for?

Apparently they also made an M202B which is a 5.5L 2cyl 55hp diesel, but thats probably enormous.

Sailboat forums is probably the best place to get information.

That's what I may be looking for, but need more specs and info on some availability, if you got one sitting around the marina....
Thanks!

It depends on what you are using it for but Northern Tool sells the Hatz diesels in 4.6,7&10hp models. Available in manual and electric start for $1600-2300. Most of the used small diesels will run you ~ $1000+
