By only having ONE gasser MB amongst the 25 or so Diesel MB's I have had, that will probably keep me out of this club . There maybe a chance if the one has watered down the Diesels just enough to not be noticed? After all, it was a 123 (Euro 280E), and could have been mistaken for a Diesel (no trunk emblems). What say you, can I join anyway?

I heard our governor of Virginia is proposeing to do away with the gas tax, and increase sales tax instead. However diesel will still have road fuel tax. Don't think it will pass, sure would be unfair to us diesel drivers.

I know this is a little off subject......

As I wrote the other day, the thread in OD forum about 2 to 3 years ago someone posted:
"Strayed from diesel, learned my lesson and came home to diesel" - or somesuch.

This thread is to roll call and exhibit admiration some of us carry for the Mercedes-Benz diesels. Wayward returnees to the MB diesel accounts for the testimony that many of us strayed, but returned to MB diesel..

I was just wondering if there were any other MB diesel owners, that have never owned an MB gasser. Since 1969, no one in our family has owned an MB gasser - only diesels.

EVERYBODY: He has strayed and purchased a 280E! I kinda like it, though...

But for a short period of time it was titled as a gasser and I obviously owned it, so maybe I did.

So if that qualifies, I guess I'm a member of the club and if not... oh well., I tried.
I think that converting from gasser to diesel should make you a member with high honors! Even when you wanted a convertible, you went to work converting it to a diesel to stay pure!

Have owned the 300SD for 3 years, last MB was a 76 300D 15 years ago...never owned a gasser MB, doubt that I could stand it.

I bought the 300sd about a year ago, one because I have loved diesels since I was a kid (back then it was VW). and two because I wanted to learn to make biodiesel.
I know have two and am in love with the build quality. I do not see myself going back to gas

A friend of mine recently got a low mileage 2005 E320 Diesel for cheap (from an MB dealer believe it or not!), and it is SWEEEEEEEEET! On the drive back home after purchasing it, it was averaging about 32 MPG. It has a LOT of power as well. If you do find one, I believe you will really like it. I used to have a 1998 E300, so I know that you know how great of a car that is. However, the '05 is so much better! Good luck on your search...Rich

I owned a 75 300D for ten years, then ten years with a Mazda Protégé, and now back to the diesels with a 78 300D.

I'd own a gasser if the opportunity ever arose, probably as a winter driver. Sometimes it's fun doing the winter start dance, and sometimes it's annoying.

Started with Dad's '76 240D (he bought new).
Then I purchased a '78 300D and a '80 300TD. Don't see any need to NOT have a diesel (and no good reason to have a gasser).
