Does the crank turn around twice for every one revolution of the IP?

The crank must go clockwise 75 degrees from the current position.

The crank does rotate twice for every one revolution of the IP.

Be sure you are on the compression stroke..............look at the cam lobes for #1............they must be up and away from the valve (valves closed).

Well it is absolutely impossible to set the mark in the IP to stay in the ab light hole and slide it on the shaft. It is spring loaded essentially, and the slightest touch sends it rotating about 40 deg off. You have to have the locking roll

You might not have that problem if you set the IP to start of delivery (ie: align the marks.) And set the crankshaft to 24 degrees BTDC on the compression stroke.

Alright I think I got it. I rotated the crank until the slot was visible in the AB light hole. I then rotated the crank 20 degrees counterclockwise and slid out the IP until it disengaged. I then rotated the crank around to 5 degrees btdc and slid the IP back on. When I rotated the crank to 15 deg ATDC, the slot was right in the center of the AB light hole.

Now I wanted to set my timing at 26 deg instead of 24, so I rotated the crank around to 13 deg atdc and then rotated the IP until the slot was dead center in the AB light hole.

Was I right in doing it at 13 deg, or should it have been 17 deg?

13 ATDC is correct for that procedure.

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for helping. It is much appreciated, I definitely would not be able to do this swap "on my own" without the help of forums, and it looks like this is a pretty good one...

Now hopefully I can get the tranny bolts torqued and wire it up to get it started on Saturday...
