That`s a lot of money for a pile of rusty scrap iron.

The guy is probably too fat to bend over and work on it, and his kid isn`t too far behind.

Do you think there may be a *slight* angularity problem for the driveshaft U-joints?

Work on it? It's chopped too far for either of them to get in it.

A Diesel-electric setup is simpler than making a 617 and 722 operate upside-down so the output shaft is driver shoulder height. Or go rear engine and do wheelstands all the way home.

Im not sure how to approach the gearing for that rearend ,it looks like thats when they started scratching their heads on this one ,3 ft from flr to tires highest point ,its radical but a treaded tire with 2o" semi rims would look justt as mean and much more streetable,to gear it wouldnt be a road block either .

then again... with 4.56:1 gearing, the fuel economy is going to be AWESOME!!!

Myncue SM465 have a 6.55:1 first gear. Push that through a 2:1 Transfer case and you're looking at 13.1:1 for first gear.

Run two U joints and angle the driveshaft down.

oh, I'm sure you can get trans gearing to compensate, but the diff is STILL gonna have to turn that mass... and the semi-float 14bolt he's got there is JUNK for strength... without short enough gears, it'll fail very rapidly...

Good lord

OM617??? I was thinking more along the lines of Detroit Diesel.

Dad probably saw a some pics, or a project writeup in a magazine of something done by a pro and tried to duplicate.

Overall a waste of what was probably a pretty intact old 2-ton or similar....

I like old trucks, even rusty ones, that is just plain wrong all over.
