you should get a tank of CO2 instead... any welding supply store will have 5 lb bottles, and it'll last a LONG time of pressuretesting, and the leftover can be used to put out a fire, or snuff out a runaway... get a regulator for the tank, and you will need an adapter to hook the HF gauges to the regulator, but should not have difficulty finding the adapter.

Did you try putting a jumper across the pressure switch and did the compressor kick in and did it get cool? If it cooled, there must be pressure so you have a bad switch for sure. Another way to test if there is any pressure without gauges is to simply push in the schraeder valve momentarily.

I went ahead and bought one to evaluate it... I've been using a MUCH more expensive one, and wonder how it compares...

I was going to press the valve in once I got home as a simple test.

ha! I might see if 4wheel parts has one by me since I can get a discount. It looks like the end of the line has a typical air chuck type fitting which may or may not interface with a 134a fitting, or will it? I don't know these things.

no, it will not connect, but you can get adapters fairly simply.

Super price on Mountain 8201 at ToolTopia.com

take the brass one, and thread in an air chuck fitting... then hook the thing to your manifold center hose, and bobs your uncle!

Sanden compressor question

I'll check out 4wheel parts or even a paintball shop and see about getting a CO2 tank. Which of those 3 fittings would replace the air chuck on the co2 tank that you found, the all brass one clearly? The others are for high and low sides

Regardless I have to discharge this thing again so I can send my hose off to ROLLGUY to get it modified for a PF condenser.

Unless I can flush the condenser and verify it doesn't have a blockage somehow.

yeah, the brass one will hook up to the center hose on your HF charging manifold, and the other two are for R12 manifold to fit converted 134 cars. (I paid $50 each for my adapters...)

then you will need an adapter to thread into the other side of the adapter to connect to your air chuck. (aobut $1 at harbor freight)

Sanden compressor question

So the smittybilt 2747 is $250-300

the 2749 seems to have been discontinued and not listed on their site anymore.

adapters on adapters on adapters on adapters.... I'm going to need another roll of teflon tape

I think my local sports authority fills C02 tanks for paintball, I'm going to call and see what they charge for what appears to be a 10lb tank. maybe I can just do 5lbs?

I should check craigslist for a C02 tank while
I'm at it

True, but the bigger tank might be useful for taking on trips to fill tires or blow out birthday candles or resell it to some 4x4 guy. Would one of those little tanks have enough c02 in it for checking multiple times?

Well, yeah I would assume. I just pointed out smittybilt released a new version of it(which appears to be exactly the same except black, some fancy graphics, and a carrying bag) for $250 more.

I'm going to order one when I get home

AirGas in my area has 5lb cylinders for $80 out the door (filled) still need a regulator, some hose, and adapters to make it connect to a car.
