don't forget the adapters to fit the manifold on the stepped compressor.
Thanks.

Did you purchase these compressors within the last 5 years? I was reading through a GM forum, and guys were saying that Compressorworks are the worst, but this was in 2007. I'm guessing that these companies go through a period of trial and error with different factories in China.

check out Trey Carlisle
at Carlisle Auto Air in San Antonio...
he knows which compressors and stuff like that they get the most or least call backs on...
and yes, sometimes it changes over the years...

Before I started the Sanden conversions, I replaced my R4 with a Four Seasons unit, and it was found to be bad AFTER installing it (Installation by me, everything else done by a reputable shop). I returned it and got my money back, and bought a new Compressorworks unit. It was bad right out of the box! That is when I had had enough with the R4, and designed the Sanden bracket. You would almost be better off with an older (known to be good) Harrison unit.

EDIT: BTW, I have a couple known good R4's that were taken off low mileage cars, and replaced with a Sanden. You are welcome to have them for the cost of boxing and shipping.

If this is a hijack, please let us know. The only problem I have had with belts recently is that they stretch, and need to be tightened. I recently got a new batch that should be better quality....Rich

Thanks for the offer rollguy. I might take you up on that depending on what feedback comes in on the Compressorworks units that have been recently installed. I got in touch with the AC shop in San Antonio and they said that they've been installing compressorworks R4 units without many problems. Was your experience with bad compressors recent?

No, it was a couple years ago when I first started the Sanden project. Who knows, they might have improved since then. I just know that I will never touch another R4, other than to remove it to install a Sanden.....Rich
