Anyway to bypass the MBz dealers and find out whether or not my SBC unit was replaced under warrenty? The service Dept. that serviced the car it's entire life won't call me back.

Call 800 222 0100

And follow the Prompts for Customer Service...

They can "See" your chassis's record from there.
(They'll probably Never admit it to you,and may put you on hold for a few
to be able to call the recalcitrant stealer on the "Blower" [Or so they'll say] )

Plus,For what the replacement Book cost for that unit shows as, Montvale will
will have it's own Warranty Record.

AND We all know Deutschlanders break out in Hives at the mere thought of
shredding documents.

Thanks. Worked although took a while to go through all the prompts.
Unfortunately the unit has not been replaced as far as they know. But not 100% sure.

I was thinking small block Chevy too but I'm the resident hot rodder. Good luck with that.

just look at the date on the side of the pump on the yellow tag - there's a pump build date. how recently it was done, against the cars build date, will tell you all you need to know. either hook up to DAS or a high end scanner to check the lifetime counter.

There's a bunch of numbers. Cant make out a date. I'll get a better mirror and try. You know where on the yellow plate the date would be? Like right upper corner or.....
But thanks for the idea. I wonder if the car soft mb11 will read the counter?

HW is build date, so by that, it's an original pump to your car. It may have gotten the ground strap recall, but that's about it.

I have no experience with Carsoft stuff - if it can access the SBC submenu in chassis then it can read the counter. I'm not sure it has that option.

If I were you, I'd budget for an SBC unit - they're just under $900 rebuilt from Mercedes directly and a good mechanic will have it swapped and bled within 2 hours. Or if you're handy and your carsoft thing can deactivate and activate the SBC, you can do it yourself by getting some brake lines undone and swapping the units out. I HIGHLY recommend to pressure bleed the brake system when it's done, so the pump will be able to build pressure quickly. It may take a few bleed or activation cycles to get the pressure built up. BUT, it doesn't necessarily have to be replaced, it'll warn you when it's reaching it's threshold by displaying a white "Brake" visit workshop on the dash and your codes will read something along the lines of checking the lifetime counter.
