That panel is somewhat hard to remove obviously. By looking at it now, you still probably won't realize how it was on there in the first place. There are (I think) three clips that are hidden on the side. You must first remove this trim piece outlined here:



Then you will see the clips I mentioned which you must unclip first.





Then you can gently pry the panel off, which is still fairly challenging. If you are lucky you won't break any clips.

Also this panel is called a C pillar, I'm not affiliated with this listing but I have found a replacement on Ebay if you care to look:
