722.6 transmission connector

Hey guys!!!

I am replacing the leaking infamous transmission connector and having difficulty seating it far enough to start the 7mm mounting screw.

I'm doing this on jack stands so there is a limited amount of room, I know that the connector is in correctly and all of the pins are straight and in the proper location coming through the connector. I have even put silicone on it to minimize the resistance.

I just need to get the O-rings to seat so it only has to go in about another 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch. Unfortunately, flat backing it it seems that I can not get in a good enough position to give it that hard last push to fully seat it.

Has anyone else experienced this and are there any solutions? I didn't know if it was ok to get a piece of wood and maybe tap it in the rest of the way with my hammer.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all!!!

Are you absolutely sure all the pins made it through the proper holes? Resist the urge to apply one last hard push and no hammers. I bat 50 50 putting those in when they want to be stubborn they will. First one I did 30 minutes no problem 2 nd one 4 hours and a pin broke off and I never pressed that hard. If that happens you drop the valve body and solder in a new connector.

Are you able to look up in there to confirm it is properly aligned? If aligned properly then push.

YES! I had this same problem. I found an Oring inside keeping the connector from going in. I removed the Oring, and the connector slid right in.

722.6 transmission connector

I’m counting 12 pins. Should be 13 as I recall.

What is in the lower right corner?722.6 transmission connector-img_0078.jpg

I would not force it. Is the latch fully open?

My experience doing this was that the insertion was firm, but not overly so using an original MB part.
I first installed a URO unit that was very difficult and I only succeeded in seating it using the 7mm screw. I was lucky that I did not bugger the conductor plate.
