1982 300D Turbo

Hello Everybody, I just got this one last week for $1000. It has 287K on it and is running strong. There is some minor cosmetics that need to be done and I have the infamous vacuum leak in the central locking system but other than that I am in love with this car. My son is learning to drive with this also and he says he will have it after he gets his license but that ain't until next April after he has had his permit for the year and IF I let him have it. BTW this is my very first MB and deisel so I know I have alot to learn so that is why I'm here at this forum.

Looks good

Very nice car! Only one comment.

Don't take this as totally inflammatory.

Those rims need to go. They look like the belong on a Volvo, not on an MB. Get some rims with matching hubcaps, or some original MB alloys.

Other than that, real nice car.

Rims?!?!?

KylePavao,

Yeah, like I said, it needs some cosmetic work which includes getting rid of the wheels and hub caps. I'm in the process of getting the vacuum leak fixed and the cruise control back online but other than that and a few minor detail work the wheels and tires are the next big investment on this car before my son takes it over. It's still running tougher than anything else I have ever driven and I have a 45 mile one-way commute to work in the middle of the swamps here in eastern NC and it hasn't even wimpered at this. I love this car and plan on taking very good care of it until the chassis gives out.

Thanks

I dunno. The car always rode semi high. But when my father and I put in new shocks, it was like a whole new car.

Also, there are some rust spots: back upper fender under trim there is a bubble, front upper fender next to trim there is a tiny dot, and rear passenger side wheel well there is a small rust spot that is going to be repaired this week. After that, we're pretty smooth. Some floor sections were basically rebuilt with fiberglass, and that seems to be holding up well.

It looks a lot better than it did when we got it, lets say that.

BTW...Eberhard Weilke suggested using a product called "FluidFilm" a rust inhibiting agent that utilizes lanolin. Ever since applying that, the rust has seemed to to want to grow. This stuff is really great, and it is also a lubricant. Its a pretty gross slime type stuff, but works good on hinges, fenders, as undercoating to recently repaired areas. Good stuff.

Well, by Kyle's standard mine looks pretty saggy. Sorry, but new springs don't even make the top ten list on this car. It'll just have to droop for a while. OTOH, maybe it's all those parts in the trunk that I haven't even looked at yet.

I think I already posted this....but I never really wanted another benz until I saw the '96 e320 commercial with Erol Flynn photoshopped in...still the classiest hood profile on the road!

Well, now that ive figured out how to post a picture, I guess I'll do it, even though this thread is pretty much dead.

Bought at 145K miles, and just turned over 170K a year later.
