Don't mind the ugly exhaust, changing that to twin pipes next time I have the rear end out for the 3.06 swap.

All vehicles in the photo are diesel.

Why don't we all post a picture of our diesels?-w126.jpg

If this thread means diesel engines, some might be interested in my mod's. When I installed a 1982 engine in my 1985 CA car, I kept the frame-mounted air filter, cutting the housing outlet 1.5" shorter to match the lower turbocharger inlet. I later did the same in my 1984 300D, using a junkyard air filter housing. No more fussing with cracked air filter brackets and more access for get hands to the R side of the engine. I stack 2 cheap Wix filters, rather than pay $45 for the "correct" air filter. Instead of the 1985CA "drain oil mist into turbo inlet" design, I run a tube from a Tee over to the drain tube which was under the air cleaner. I could run a hose straight down to the stub on the oil pan, but this was easier.

After this photo, I rerouted the H.P. AC hose and tubing directly to the condenser, as the factory might have. I also removed the nonfunctioning EGR valve and controls, using Rollguy's block-off plates, so now better access to the alternator bolts.

It's physically different from the Garret T3 .

IMO obvious .

It's slightly smaller too so it spools up faster .

The wastegate adjustment is 10MM A.T.F. nut and screw, dead easy to adjust compared to the T3 where you must remove a flat spiral locking ring before making adjustments .

I can see it now, the wastegate actuator is also perpendicular to the axis, whereas the T3 is parallel. You learn something new every day!

Very clean W123. You don't really see the palomino interior absent of pink these days. I take it you keep it garaged?

Thumbs up Helping Hands

Thanx Shern ;

As I said, it's not perfect close up but I can and do trust my life to it daily and for as far as I want to go .

I wish it still looked as good as yours but i've had it for two decades and always run the wheels off it, not every one uses their "Classic" for yeoman Duty, I always do .

I'd forgotten about the fuel sender, yes I'd like it and would like to come fetch it this Saturday if possible .

Believe it or not, Southern Californian street parking and the odd re-dye/paint.

I’ve changed seat skins here and there because originals had rips and tears, but even those originals had no pinkomino… it was the replacements that needed the touching up. Luck of the draw I guess…
