Lost my muffler...

Put this in it's place. The car does accelerate faster, is not much louder from the drivers seat, and it's sound it more pleasing to me. I saved the muffler if I want to put it back on.

About a fifth as loud as most of the cummins and powerjokes out here.

I know wagons are notorious for scraping the rear bumper/reverse lights. I hope your new exhaust tip won't suffer the same fate.

Maybe you intentionally made it that way to prevent the reverse lights from scraping first?

About a fifth of the power, too!

I've been straight for a while, no resonator, they really aren't that loud. With the VNT cranked up all the way it just whistles....

Does the turbo spool faster and/or at lower RPMs without the backpressure of the muffler?

That's a great mod, quick and easy! Does it drone at all on the highway?

It does run from 2500-3000 much more quickly after a few test runs yesterday. I think tomorrow's commute will give me a better idea of both power/spooling and noise/drone/whistle. While it was a quick mod- using a hacksaw under the car did take little time.

Even Better power is to remove the resonator and leave the muffler intact...

I was really looking more an answer with actual numbers...

Like it starts to spool 500 RPMs lower and makes 2 PSI more boost at 2000 RPMs - something like that...

I'm VERY seriously thinking of removing both resonator AND muffler and putting a straight pipe with a straight-through glasspack muffler on mine. That would give the spooling benefits of a completely straight pipe, but still have a little sound deadening.

My truck has a straight pipe, and with the turbo it isn't terribly loud nor does it drone obnoxiously. I "raps" pretty good when you really get on it, and when compression braking, but otherwise sounds pretty good.

However, even though its exhaust pipe is nearly twice the length of the one on the MB's it is still louder than I'd want my MB to be...
