I never said it was sold in the USA, not sure where you picked up that I had. The original poster said that they were never sold, no location specified.

Also wasnt the gwagen available in a turbo and manual trans combo?

FINALLY!!!

I got the new driveshaft today... absolute work of art. Digital camera is out of town again but I will get some pics with the old SLR 35mm, they can make you a pic cd when you get film developed.

The guy spent 8 hours on it. He had to machine couplings for the different size ends to fit in to a common tube. He TIG welded the end's. The original driveshafts are crimped together and people will not weld on them. He said it took experience to weld the crimp ends. He painted it black, looks like powder coat. I don't want to put it on the car it's so nice. It's also a lot beefier than the original shafts. Seems like you could drag race with it no problem... it was a speed shop after all.

Now... it's hotter than hell out so I am not messing with it till the weekend when it's cooler.

I used......trying to remember...... the 190d flywheel because the 190e wheel has a few cracks in it and needs resurfaced. The 190d wheel was nice enough as is, I polished it up with sand paper. They both weigh the same... yes the gasser flywheel and diesel flywheel from an '84 and '86 190d/190e are the same weight and look identical.

I used a flywheel bushing yes... I am using a used clutch for experimental purposes and decided to use the nicer of the two pilot bushings. If I feel like it I will put a new clutch and stuff in it over the winter. I will use a 9.5" 300E clutch.

And yes the other swap "kit" is available. I need to try to peddle it a little harder.

I think I had it listed for $800... maybe? Send me a PM and we can talk. I had it listed in the "parts" section. You might want to search my user name for the post.

I hope to get the car back together enough to test drive in the next couple of days. It will be cooler out and I have a lot of outdoor projects.

Still on jack stands. I have the new driveshaft in and I just need to re plumb the pedal ass'y. The problem is I will not work on the car if it too hot and humid out. I really hope to get it on the road by next week.

Turns out the cross member I got from the donor w201 will not work with an om603 5 spd w124. So I need to fabricate something then perhaps order the one I need from the dealer. Other than that it's all done and ready to test drive.

Torque

Drove the car around the block today.. around 1500 rpm and the turbo takes you for a ride. 2nd gear syncro is bad and the used clutch slips at WOT over 4500 rpm... no big deal, all winter projects. Got up to 55mph and was turning around 1800 rpm in 5th. After some torque checks on the driveline I will visit the highway. Shifter is notchy as hell and I also had the 1/2 and 5/R shifter rods reversed. Figured that out when I went to back out of the garage and moved forward. I think if I adjust the linkage again the shifter will smooth out.

I need to install the console and stuff, and a major wash/wax is in order.

yes stock rear end. Seems like 3rd gear is good for the neighborhood. I get a loud howl from the rear if I get below 1200 rpm while in gear.. so to cruise in 4th I need to be at least 40 mph.

I have no idea what rear end I would want... So far it seems like shorter gears would be better and I get too confused on the subject of gear ratios to know what rear I want. 1st gear starts are good but I still think I would want a lower 1st.

On an unrelated note...

I tried to pull a vacuum on the a/c.... has a leak so massive a vacuum could not be made.

A leak in the dash vac-pods? Yep, typical. I just replaced all of mine.
