In other news, I am getting a hold of the frier and experimented with two Mars bars today.

Things have toned down a little bit; not feeling that much anxiety anymore. I have rented a tiny room that will allow me to save most of my income, so that's a good start. With a cool head, I can start planning what is that I really want out of life and focus like a laser beam.

To be honest, my current mix of disappointment and frustration is not allowing to let me see things too clearly in or out of myself to allow for any planning or decision-making; I no longer know how I could possibly be happy if I got to spend the next 10 years in Spain. I have the beginning of a business that operates rather slowly, but there's little else here to get my head our of the water. I want to hoard Mercedes... in the USA!

In other news, here's a tiny photo taken today. The book to the left is 400€ ($472), the one to the right is 300€ ($354). They are "courses" on "labor injuries" and checklists that we have to fill in everyday at the kitchen. It's insanity! Spain is such a bureaucratic hellhole!

Post Hoarding

It's a mixed bag :

Some hoard and sell parts & cars , this is a good thing .

Others hoard and never sell / get rid of anything then one days they die and what's left behind is rusty junk of no use .

I hoarded Vintage VW stuff for decades long before it was ' cool ' , I've gotten rid of lots but still have more ' hard Parts ' and literature to get rid of , my Son doesn't seem to want any of it .

I'm down to three W-123's and am trying to figure out which one to keep when I get too old to maintain them anymore in another couple decades....

This aint rational buddy, hoard cars here is fine--just dont piss in the wind with the tri stars---that is loosing money any how you look at it ( unless you start by dragging a certain silver heap U spotted on a certain carribien isle to the port and loading in a container headed to Houston you should do a quick check around and see if there are any 36 500K roadsters that can be had too.

Yep... hoarding Mercedes is something I really look forward to (as a past-time). Much like ROLLGUY or OneOwnerCarGuy. A lot of people say never to make a business out of a hobby, so I am keeping it a little bit realistic with the export business, which is still very fun!

These days I've been remembering a lot of the good old times down the PanAmerican. So, two years later, I present you with a lot of material that was kept secret when the Gullwing story was published.

Are you ready for a trip down Memory Lane into the Cave of Wonders?

Thumbs up Never Give Up , Never Say Die

Thanx Miguel ;

I traveled Centro America in the mid 1970's and saw many many Classics like this rotting away .

The gull wing probably did have that dreaded Lada Diesel engine at one point ~ look at the poorly cobbled up motor mounts crudely arc welded to the front cross member .

Best of luck with the Green Card , America needs more hard working immigrants like you .

Your welcome back dinner awaits here....

I do wonder what kind of cars! Most likely gone by now...

Thanks for your wishes; I hope I get it once for all and get my hard work recognized! The degree of stubbornness, envy, and indifference is way too great in this little poor town!

Thumbs up Centro - American Classics

Yeah , I'm sure all are long gone now , my poor Ex Wife hated me stopping to gawk at every old beater I found....

Interestingly , not far out side of Downtown Guatemala City I found lots and lots of dead BMW's and Mercedes etc. more or less curb parked , right off the actual street , not terribly old at the time , late 1960's and early 1970's .

Everywhere else were the stuff I liked ~ mostly old American tin , there was a scruffy but complete 1954 Chevy convertible street parked near where I lived in Zona 5 , I almost bought a '48 Ford ToDor Sedan , lots of stuff like that .

She freaked when I bought a 1937 Harley - Davidson EL (61") KnuckleHead Motocycle and rode it home... .

She's gone and now I have a yard full of classics , or maybe it's all junk .

I never said it was junk although the frame was broken in three places and the wiring was just a suggestion .

I took it all apart and found another frame (! $35.00 !) , have made a harness for it , it was a very good runner and I often out ran the local Military guys who had new ShovelHeads on it....

Of course , much of the City's streets were still cobblestones and riding a foot clutch ' suicide shift ' Moto in the rain on 25° hills , wasn't a whole lotta fun but in the main I had a very good time indeed .

Getting run off the Mountain by a bus on my side of the road ? not so much fun but more exciting than any ' E Ticket ' ride I ever had .

I didn't pay much for it , maybe $350 , sold it for about $500 a year later in good running order , new tires, clutch and so on .

This was in 1976 .
