Thumbs up

i like it here.. somewhat similar to MM's description.. i am just a few hours S. of him.. I have a huge back yard for a city. close to downtown and too close to the highways but I can't hear it here in the house.. Hiking/water just ann hour away, large cities within a few hours's drive, Chicago, Cincy, STL.. people are some of the friendlies (Hoosier hospitality is no joke) and i think that's probably the one thing that makes me stay here..

No mountains but great lakes are close enough. Summers are too hot and humid and winters not snowy enough but the autumn is as good as in NE if not better/longer.

Hot sticky summers, wet icy winters. My wife hates the deer that eat up her gardens. Saturday afternoons the roads are so packed with people going shopping, I do what I can to avoid it.

Spring is the best season and theres no history of natural or manmade disasters (unless you count DC). The schools are good, and unemployment is low. Its pleasant enough, though I want to move somewhere else eventually.

In the middle of nowhere. I like the commute to work, ~5 minutes or less. The jobs here, if I had my ideal job in the place I loved it would be somewhat like what MedMech describes, wherever that is.

Go west young man, go west. I lived in Chicago for a very long time. Getting outta that hell-hole is the best move I've ever made.

Howdy Ron,
My uncle up in Payson says they come through his area at night making all kinds of noise and you don't hear any of the neighborhood dogs making a sound :-)
