We should change the name of this thread to "THIS WEEK'S WORK WITH CHAD AND HIS FENCE"

How's the day going to go for everyone?

For me? Clean the truck up today, then...Onalaska Sunfish Days in Onalaska, WI.. I'll be pulling the Repo. Float on Saturday, then tending the Beer-Ticket Booth for the rest of the weekend...

And you all?

I believe the new solid board fence will decrease the amount trash that ends up in my yard due to vehicle drafts pulling it up the road from the "masterbation supply store".
Great fence,really neat job.

A thought strikes me...very rigid and controlling with permits and such...yet a porn shop up the street.

I'd stake the place out and see if any zoning, building, code compliance guys patronise said store.Bet'cha they head right for the "buddy booths".

Don't worry the fence is almost done and will be a forgotten topic before long.

That looks like a cool thing to do over the holiday. I wish there was an event like that local to me. I'm planning to take my kids to the Philadelphia Zoo and the Academy of Natural Sciences.

Mr. Hughes,

Thanks for the compliment. As far as staking out the porn shop ... I'd have to go in disguise to keep my anonymity, but I don't think my MB diesel can be overlooked.

Plus, like a good citizen, I would like a solution that requires little to no effort from me. I'm hoping a letter will work.

I've got Saturday and Monday off! I don't know what I'll do with myself.

Most of the kids are marching in the parade tomorrow morning so I'll probably take the littlest one and watch. After that, just more yardwork. I'm hoping to finally build my raised beds and do some rototilling, put down some mulch. I've decided to change the configuration of my one large bed into a few longer skinny ones, sort of a fence without needing a permit thing for one side of the backyard.

We're going to a friends' house on Sunday for a cookout so I'll be eating and drinking too much then. They've got a fenced in yard so I'm looking forward to some outdoor time planted in a chair and not chasing rugrats around!

Monday, not sure. I've really got to get my Jeep ready to sell and it's in dire need of another wash, wax and detail. I washed it last weekend and of course it rained just after that. Then they were doing some roadwork and cutting some pavement with a blade and I had to drive through the cooling water. Needless to say, driving a Jeep without the fender flares (removed in order to install new ones after I ever get around to waxing) sprays dirty water in every possible direction. On top of that I've got my old Dodge Grand Caravan parked here at work that I need to rid myself of before my father has it towed away. Sadly the boat probably won't even get on the radar screen. The wife is on my case to get the poverty pool set up. I haven't decided if I really want to move the playscape first or not.

Rolling thunder?

I just realized I haven't been hearing the constant rumble of Harleys that pervades this area every Memorial Day when Rolling thunder comes to town. Has the gas problem gotten so bad people aren't coming to that this year?

Swamp (everytime I type that, btw, I think of Jack Nicholson right after he has taken a hit off his pint bottle of bourbon in Easy Rider). Apply for the money and check with the ADA as well for a grant. Having represented state boards and worked extensively with grants, if the money isn't used by the end of the FY, in most cases it reverts to your State's general fund, to be used for stuff you may or may not agree with.

I don't pretend to understand what it is like having a disabled child, so don't interpret this as me saying the process would be easy, but just don't want you to feel bad about applying for the money. The boards I represented almost always had money left over every year and went on a mad dash to spend it. Ask any college administrator about this process

That is a damn nice fence, Chad. I wish my hysterical society would allow me to put up a fence in my front yard.

JD, great advice! (including the need for a hit ) I feel funny applying for stuff like that but like you said, if it doesn't get used it just goes back into the general fund.

We're only 6 years into the journey and compared with a lot of parents with kids with disabilities we're very lucky, but it's been the best thing to ever happen to me. He's really made me appreciate the little things and get my priorities straight. Thanks again!

It's amazing how children can focus you on the present like nothing else. I miss that. Mine are at the age where they're preparing me for when they're gone by being a pain in the butt most of the time. It was fun back when they were little, though. I miss that.

G is actually very good about stopping when you tell him to but kids with Ds are prone to being running risks so that's why there's often money available especially if you're on a busy street like we are.
Swamp that's why the money is there- use it. Don't make me come up there and fill the papers out for you....
I'm going to the GTG at Powerpig and Mrs. Powerpig's house tomorrow and looking forward to meeting an out of town forum member (TheSwede). Then maybe Rolling Thunder on Monday at the Vietnam Memorial in DC. Oh yeah and trying to unstick the seats in the SL.

Don't worry El P., there are enough foreclosures out there that you'll stumble on another one.

Our office is being fumigated today, so we get the day off - - - makes it a four day weekend for me.

We've had the craziest weather today and yesterday.

Dark clouds rolled in in the afternoon, and it rained like hell. They had mudslides in Orange County in the burn areas.

Several tornadoes touched down in Riverside County. People in their cars took pictures and video of at least four (4) tornadoes on Edwards Air Force base.

The tornadoes knocked down several box car trains that were sitting on the tracks.

Tornadoes are unheard of in Southern California. I can't believe it didn't make the national news.

The wife and the twins left for Japan on Sunday. They'll be gone for almost a month. I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do myself.
