I remember a joke about Datsun and as how it got it’s name.
When Datsun was been built it did not have a name and as they
were competing with another manufacturer and as the date of
release came closer, they still did not have a name. The CEO of the
company was getting jittery and said to the board members that he needed a name by tomorrow. To this a guy snapped back and in his accent said
“What That (Dat) soon (Sun)”. The CEO said well that’s the name Datsun.

The real story is:

In 1911, an American-trained engineer, Masujiro Hashimoto, formed Kwaishinsha Motors to build the first Japanese car. It was called "DAT". The letters stood for the initials of three men who provided capital: Kenjiro Den, Rokuro Aoyama and Meitaro Takeuchi. It also happened to mean (in rough translation) "Very Fast" or , possibly, "Fast Rabbit". By 1918, the new company was producing a small two-seater sports car called Datson (for son of DAT). Partly because "son" sounded similar to a Japanese expression that meant "to lose money", the name later changed to Datsun. In 1933, the original Kwaishinsha Motors became Nissan Motor Company LTD.
