OMG! Is it really Hump Day again?! I just went and picked up my new Mac Book Pro. Woohoo!
I've been thinking and talking about this forever. I hope it all works out as well as I have imagineditwill. I intended to buy a Mac when I bought my forst computer. Back then it was a Mac Classic, I think. 13" B&W screen was built into the CPU box. I ended up with a 386 SX instead and have been regretting it ever since. |
so youve been using a 386 since?
wow ;) |
Just found out my boss has never heard of Firefox. Not sure why, but that strikes me as somewhat incredible :P.
Came up when I was giving him a heads up that the major product transfer I'm working may get delayed since our IT wizards who are creating a product licensing web application overlooked one minor little requirement: the app has to be deployed at a supplier that has banned microsoft products from their network. Supplier uses Firefox. Web app only runs under Internet Exploder. Sigh. Other than that, struggling to keep my resources focused on the current transfer long enough to get it done (this is one going from Malaysia to Guadalajara). Lots of folks (me included) about to get sucked into another acquisition - 3x bigger than the current transfer, which up until now was the biggest my company had ever taken on. Busier than a one armed paper hanger, but not complaining - been there done that with the nothing to do at work routine - THAT sucks. Ma's comfy, Darling Wife is amazing, Ed's being Ed (refusing to see do what his heart doc says to do cause he figger'd he was supposed to have dropped dead 3 years ago), 200' long ice tunnel that is our driveway is still a full car + 3" wide, and I got to drive in to work today with the top down and snow falling. Life is good. |
Oldest son has a semi-final game in the week-long CYO hoops tournament at 3:15 so I'm bailing out early. DD has a game this evening, the girls brackets are double elimination and they got crushed last night 35-8. It was a rough one to sit through!
We got our latest 2" snow event last night, after the 3" yesterday. 3" or 8", it still takes me 2 hours to do all of my plow accounts and my recent age milestone (40) is rearing its ugly head. Achy and creaky today! :o On the positive side, the billing amount is the same either way and there's a hell of a lot less wear and tear on the equipment. |

Well, it's the eve of my wife's ankle surgery to repair some ligament damage that she did 3 years ago when she was pregnant with our #4 and exacerbated by not taking care of it back then despite my prodding her to do so. She's been trying to get back to her pre-kid exercise routine but the ankle just won't cooperate. Six weeks of non-weight bearing on crutches and then six weeks in a boot. Needless to say my after-work schedule is going to get a lot more hectic. I'll be tending to her Thurs and Fri and then my mother will takeover playing school bus and the rest of the duties while I'm at work and running various kids to their activites for the foreseeable future.
I did rent a knee scooter for her so she can at least get around the house and use her hands/carry coffee but I still need to move some furniture around to open up some travel lanes. Wish me sanity!:) |
Best of luck Yank! I have no doubt you'll figure out how to roll with the changes and work out new routines. I'm often amazed at just how many times our "routine" has shuffled over the past few years. Between Ma, Ed, The Zoo, my kids moving in & out (sometimes with their mates and/or my grandkids), and a pretty dang'd constant flow of visitors since we moved to MD, normal is redefined on a pretty frequent basis.
You've had lots of practice - running a small business, being a fierce advocate and supporter for your kids, owning an old Benz :P - these things make us stronger, right? I mean, we're not dead yet, so they must be? Today for me has been all work, all day (so far). Darling Wife is trying to figure out whether Ma is coming home today, tonight, tomorrow, or TBD. She's back in the hospital (she's been home from the nursing home, back to the hospital, home, and back to the hospital since I last updated y'all on her status). Another late night call with a supplier in China tonight is about the only firmly scheduled item for the rest of hump day. Supposed to be getting more snow tonight/tomorrow, so I may have an excuse for playing hooky and working from home tomorrow! Also just found out my employer is considering "office sharing" to avoid having to add more space - which should translate into PLANNED working from home 2-3 days per week! WOOT!!! |
Hey guys. We're looking to get 12-18" of snow here according to the reports.
I just got back from taking my new SDL in for state inspection. It failed but the work needed to pass is minor. I picked it up in Memphis from another forum member (daw_two). Here's the thread if you're interested. Post #163 starts my part of Coda's journey. Coda, 1986 300SDL, the journey continues........ |
Waiting for another 1-5 inches of snow....45 degrees on Sunday- YES! have a good one.
