As far as the demonstrators are concerned I am sure "rent a crowd" aka "the anarchists" are there in significant numbers. We are seeing the same thing in Australia. I believe the police busting up the demonstrators in Melbourne Australia was the first of such in the world. After all they wanted them gone for the queens visit. Seeing their tents & other junk being loaded into rubbish trucks put a smile on many faces.
The lack of conscription & work for the dole means we have many with way to much time on their hands. Unfortunately, a few trouble makers can use these idle individuals in a very anti social way.

yes, they just need to go into the military. that will set them straight. spoken like a true authoritarian. you aren't ex military by chance? and so respective of the queen, i see. who deserves respect for what, exactly? oh, "into the valley, rode the six hundred, eh?" if you believe all that, well, you sure are gullible.

Well you have got it wrong ~ your assumptions are way off. I am not ex military, though I have many military & ex military friends.
When your country gets is own house in order I will listen to your snipes about the Westminster system. Until then, best keep your eye on debt !!

for the record, you lamented the lack of "conscription". your desire for a draft speaks volumes about who you are. and the fact that you never served says even more. here in america, we have a name for people like that, specifically the dick cheney and donald rumsfeld types who are happy to send others off to fight in wars they managed to avoid: "chicken-hawks". google it.

Oakland seems to be the consistent black eye of the movement. I don't understand why that particular crowd is so willing to jump to violence and give the whole thing a bad name. In all of the cities having OWS movements at the moment the only ones you really hear about are NYC (because of size) and Oakland (because of the violence).

Cops in CA are also much more violent and ill-trained than NYPD (as bad as our rep is). BART shootings in NorCal, consistant LAPD abuses -- seems like the state has an angry pig problem, at least in the more urban areas.

I have a right not to like cops who abuse their power to deprive citizens of their Constitutional rights. Are you one, and is your skin that thin?

If I saw any of the cops involved in the Oakland operations get hit by a truck on a deserted street, I'd drive right on by whistling Dixie, not lift a pinky to render aid.

1. Not a LEO

2. The right to PEACEABLY ASSEMBLE and have a redress of grievances does not include destroyiing property and violent actions.

3. If the protestors want a revolution, so be it. If they do, then they should be prepared for casualties and not whine and cry like spoiled brats when someone gets hurt.

4. You mentioned a day of reckoning for the police: does that mean you are advocating violent overthrow of our government?

Criminals with badges -- citizen's arrest for felony battery as well as on Federal civil rights charges would be appropriate.

Actually, the appropriate response for ethically conscious businesses would be simply to stop doing business with cops in uniform where such abuses happen regularly.

When anyone in uniform is unable to get a tire changed, a tank of gas, a cup of coffee, lunch at a diner, or a prescription filled at the local pharmacy, maybe they'll start seeing the point as well as questioning their orders.

All these people would have to do to avoid this would be to obey the law. I guess such a novel concept is beyond their comprehension.

What do you call them? Somebody with the gonads to do such a job and then doing it. More than I can say for some of the posters on here.

Looks like well trained law enforcement officers and pretty damn good shots. You ever fire one of those rubber bullets at someone? Its hard to get a solid hit.....
