And yes, I'm crying "police brutality." What happened in Oakland appeared to be pretty vile, and the cops seemed to show zero restraint.
The "rent a mob" were given plenty of warnings, they chose to stay & disrupt.

There is no right to disrupt others like that mob have. Their purpose was to disrupt others. They went there to undertake a demonstration to disrupt. where are the rights of decent law abiding people? They had their demonstration, they inconvenienced others, made a ass of themselves & cost the public. Its well past the time for them to crawl back under their rock & let the rest of the community get on with their lives in peace.

The Leo's have my full support & I am sure they have the support of the vast majority of decent people. How many of the Leo's have been injured by the demonstrators?

Leo's just doing their job.
I am sure that there are many of the demonstrators that would be the first to ring the Leo's & wine if some group of kids was disrupting their neighborhood.

Maybe water cannons would have worked better.

How were law-abiding people hurt by Occupy Oakland (or Occupy Wall Street, for that matter)? Unlike the British subjects down under, we actually have Constitutional rights, and the protesters were within their rights. However, those rights do NOT include "the right not to be offended!"

All the more reason why the cops should keep calm and not give it to them rather than behaving violently and unprofessionally. Even before OWS, the cops in the Bay Area (particularly Oakland) had far too many "accidents" and "incidents," so I'm not convinced that they're capable of professional behavior.

Did they draw straws to see who would be hit?

Is it your contention that shutting down the port hurts no one? Blocking traffic and camping without permits hurts no one? Extra LEO and the pay they get for the job hurts no one? What planet do you come from?

Less poor-quality Chinese crap dumped on the US market would actually HELP the US. What do you think they're bringing in to the West Coast ports? If our gov't actually had some b@lls, they'd slap a 100%+ tariff on all products imported from China. Sadly, they're in the pockets of people interested in selling cheap Chinese garbage here.

Blocking traffic, maybe, but only if they didn't allow emergency vehicles to get through. Camping - not really. And the protesters didn't call out the cops (hate the term LEO, since "leo" is "lion" and implies bravery on the part of cowards), the city chose to.

Melbourne Australia was the first place to see Leos deal with these protesters. They had brought parts of the city to a stand still, same over there. They had no real purpose for the demonstration except disruption.

I am sure there are plenty of open fields in West TX & other places where they could have had their demonstration. They chose the location to maximize the disruption & damage to public property.

When you grow a little older & wiser you will understand.
For now you appear just a tough guy on a computer.
If you feel so strong about this issue, what ever it is, why dont you go & join the scum demonstrators?
You actions will speak louder than your words. Other wise you may be judged a hot winded no body. All hat & no cattle !!

Oi Mr. Einstein: the purpose of a demonstration is for people to SEE it. Therefore, it should be in a populated area. Freedom of speech does not mean "the freedom to shout, but only if no one hears you."

I've occasionally been to Zuccotti Park, and have actually donated clothing and tech equipment to the demonstrators. Wasn't there last night. G-ddamn right, my actions speak as loudly as my words. I don't share their goals, but I'll defend their right to voice their thoughts to my last breath.

No plans to camp out, though -- my apartment is much warmer and drier, plus if I plan to go camping, it will be somewhere far away from the city!!

No threat at all. Just hoping you get to support the movement to it's fullest. Instead of sending a bunch naive kids out to do your dirty work.

Is that an Australian term? I know what it means (see Skid Row Joe), but I thought that it was a western U.S. phrase.
